I was talking in an LRM Spam thread, and had the idea that there should be a tagged warning system. It already lets you know when you're targeted, so why not tagged?

I personally think a soft, subtle, buzzing sound without all the flashing messages would be ideal. Something that lets you know, like a radar detector in a car.

Just an idea, and if it's already been talked about, I appologize for bringing it up, but just wondering what you think would be nice as an active warning system.

TAG targeting doesn't ping off a "warning: targeted" message already?

TBH I hate things that give away stuff you would have otherwise not known without targetting or looking around for whats going on.

The targeted warning imo should be removed for gameplay reasons.

I would argue the same if being tagged gave a warning as why bother with using scouts if you can't target them OR tag them (enemys), because you will

1. Give yourself away.
2. Let the enemy you are tagging get the advantage when they did no work to achive it at all, and you did all the work getting to where you are unspotted. (why should i be punished for good play, and someone rewarded for doing nothing ? )

Thats my main gripes with it... realism aside, both should not be in for gameplay reasons.

I just dont like the idea of it..........Nothing against you. :)

Kind of counter-productive to the Scout role, especially when using NARC/TAG. If someone knows you are scoutin', then what's the point in putting effort into sneaking around.

'Warning Targeted' is annoying and should be removed.

Why should it give a warning? Its a laser pointer and completely passive. Its the missiles that target the pointer in the same way a laser guided bomb homes in on the reflected laser. Turn on your heat vision and you can see the tag lasers. Once your tagged you will get a warning targeted by the enemy missile boat. So why again do you need informed of you being tagged?

Poll needs a none of the above its fine option.

I think they are pretty easy to spot; if they are tagging you from behind you have other issues.

You left off an option for "No warning" :)

How about an option in the poll for "nothing we don't need it".

Here's why, a warning about simply tagging a target is an offhand buff to ECM.

ECM mechs or those under the cloaking are the only ones who need to worry about TAG, most times a TAG will immediately be followed by a "Warning: Targeted" but if you gave an explicit tag warning you would telling the target whether the target is close (inside the ecm bubble, no TAg warning cause tag doesn't work) or far (outside ECM bubble tag works, Tag warning).

The fact of the matter is that the last thing any mech taking advantage of ECM benefits needs is yet another helpful hand. If you are targeted use your eyes to find out from who, your teammates can always see the icon and tell you you've been tagged, also stop acting like you are invisible under ECM and assume any mech at any time can target you and you'll worry less about whether or not you've been TAG'd. (I am using the general and not specific you)

yes, I know, 90% of the time I am using heat, and I gotta agree with Fooooo, I was kinda surprised that they had added the "Warning targeted" into the game. Does kinda ruin it some for the LRM guys. I am an avid LRM player, but some threads here seem to thing it is getting rediculous with LRMS, so I figure if a little TAG warning was implemented, there would be NO excuse what-so-ever about getting killed. Although, IMO, there shouldnt be any excuse anyways. With Cover, minimum range, ECM, and required lock, as well as warning messages and missile flight time....shouldn't be a reason to get killed. Lol

I don't think there is any need for that.

I think "Warning: Targeted" is fine but the "Incoming Missile" should be just a claxon type sound. Just grab the exact sound from MW2 when an enemy achieved missile lock on you. Perfect.

But I think they should let you customize what you want to be warned about. Give me hundreds of Bitchin' Betty warnings and information and let me check off the ones I want. Tag? No. Targeted? Yes. Missile lock? Claxon. Missiles fired? No. Sensors disrupted? Yes. etc...

There is already a warning. Betty says: "WARNING! Targeted!"

Granted it's not only for TAG, but the effect is the same.

I'd sort of like to see the "Warning: Targeted" message removed and replaced with a "Warning: TAGed" or something equivalent. If you are targeting somebody passively (ie, not using a range-finding guidance laser to paint the target) then how does the target know it's been targeted?

Do you need more than the message Betty already gives you and the visible beam? I mean... I chose NO WARNING but that's only because you didn't offer "NO *MORE* WARNING".

Nope, in fact get rid of the "targeted" warning, I don't want to hear it and I don't want the other guy to hear it... also seems to act buggy. "Incoming Missile" is quite enough. Your teammates can warn you if you are tagged.

It would really kill TAG's effectiveness...
