Most weapons take ammo in distinct 1 ton chunks.

We have a problem with boating of SRMs and of to a less extent, UAC5's.

How a bout every time 1 ton of ammo is exhuasted and your mech has to switch to a new ammo bin there was a reloading delay while the internals reroute what ammo to take? this way weapons that use tons of their ton of ammo fast like SRM6 swarms and UAC5 quads will have a bit more of a limit on their dakka and it make sense in all sorts of other ways.

Somehow my ammo magazines only have seven rounds in them now.

I dunno what happened.

This would also let you assign delays based on weapon/ammo bin locations. IE weapon in arm, ammo in foot? SLOWWWWW RELOAD compared to say keeping a weapon and its ammo in the same location. this would make CASE useful again and fit the lore that always talksabout mechs that have issues with where ammo is relative to weaponry. ammo placement should be much more of a playstyle decision!

While the idea would be great and in line with the lore/canon/whatever, implementing it feasibly is an another issue. There is always the constant juggle between adding features vs. playability.

I always thought it would make more sense if the ammo was actually with the weapon. Like a cannon pod or w/e would have the magazine attached to it. Idk something along those lines, being able to magic the ammo up from your feet is odd.

It's in times like these I close my eyes and try to remember BT/MW is magic.

I don't agree. And I say this as someone who leans away from boated loadouts.

This, however, is intriguing. Again, I'm not sold on this concept, as after a weapon fires, it should chamber new ammunition during the cool-down cycle. However, if this were related to switching ammunition, or perhaps if an ammunition transfer path (ex., a side torso between an ammo'd leg and its firing arm) got damaged, maybe I could see that being a thing.

I might be interested in something like this if PGI gets around to introducing multiple ammuntion types that can be switched between, mid match. (I'd love to get some HEAP rounds in my AC/20, and Infernos in my SRMs!). This may be a ways off.
