I'v got the burn too..MOSTLY because 18 out of 20 maps are some variant of river city. In the past week, I have been on the new map twice...Add to that the fact that after the "event" we had, every "assault" game has turned into a "lets see who caps who first" match. If the maps were TRULY random, ( they are not ) it would not be as a big deal as it is, because I would get on all of the maps in about an hours worth of gaming.

4 days of premium left... and i'm taking a looooooong break from mwo... not much left to do when you have 40+++++ mechs...

not dissing the game, have been playing this non-stop & exclusively since Sep 2012 (the game is that good & engaging).

However, the game needs new stuff and i don't mean moar mechs & cockpit items...

I joined up with a merc corp and it has made my time in this game far more enjoyable.
Personally, I don't mind only having 5 maps because I like the game and its the only game where a battle can feel truly epic sometimes.

Then again I'm also the type of person who doesn't mind playing Dust literally every time I play a counterstrike game

This is one of the more important steps solo players who are being burnt out should try and comprehend.

Nope, not bored yet. But then, I am not a moron that plays many hours on end everyday. I typically play a few matches, then do something else. Weekends I might play a bit more, but hey, it's the weekend.

oh yes, experienced burnout and left for about a month. There wasn't enough content - mainly maps and nothing to work towards. The main reason I am back is I'm excited about the excitement....meaning, I'm excited about the future, about this year: Community Warfare (finally the game will become grouping friendly), Clans (finally some new weapons which are sorely needed), Achievements (always have something to work toward and always a reward around the corner), offline play (can actually test the game out for us labcoats). There is excitement building and for the first time I feel the game is Open Beta-worthy (in it's infancy stages) and it is that excitement about what is to come that is making me log in, but not because I find the game currently fun. I think it still seriously lacks content.

I'm not burnt out but I think that a lot of the friends I play with are. You are not alone.

A perfect example of how to burn out quickly. If you already have forty mechs, you have spent some serious time in this game and its no surprise you are burned out...

Moderation is the key. I Play for a few matches, then do something else for a while... And it wont be long before I'll have he urge to play again.. Then take a break... Rinse & repeat.

No, not necessarily. Mech bays and mechs can all be bought with real money. Nothing says he didn't drop a few hundred bucks on the game.

no, I played MW4:Mercs for years 40 hours a week and didn't get burned out until the end. The game was fun, because it had (in the last Mekpak) over a hundred mechs (including Battle Armor), over a hundred weapons, and hundreds of maps as well as player run servers and a decent lobby. This game at times has been fun, but never the fun I experienced in Mercs. Burnout is happening because the game is too repetitive and is not fun enough to continue the repetition. However, with what is coming this year I expect burnout to be a very rare thing.

Yeah just take a break. No reason to force it. Game should be around for a while.

This game is only around for a year or so, be patient and dont grind mwo, srsly dont do it.
Its the perfect game for a few carefree matches in the evening but not a timesink like mmos.

It's good to get burned out and take a break. Much better to step away than it is to force yourself to grind xp and become frustrated or rage in-game. It's a game. It's supposed to be fun. If you can't think up a way to make it fun by trying a different mech or build, then take a break. The game will still be there once you get back.

I haven't played in over a month!

Combination of work priorities, less available personal time lately, and a lack of interest in the linear play style as of late. Was looking fwd (and still am, btw!!) to Community Warfare, distinct roles, faction battles...not to mention the Clans.

IMHO, the devs should roll- back the game clock to at least 3049 (or even 3048?), get the netcode fixed, fix all known issues, and then re- launch/launch open Beta to truly test. Roll- back should include a freeze on new player additions until most issues are resolved.

Will these things happen? Let's just say...hope springs eternal!

I think it stems from the complete mismanagement of the game. IGP/PGI are new to the genre and then you have leadership that make bad decisions.

Nope. Not burned yet. But then, I'm not playing competitively with only the strongest and best builds, over and over again, just to farm C-bills and try for the highest K/D ratio.

Last night I played a hunchback with two medium pulse lasers and six flamers. Caught an atlas without armor and began roasting. The guy on the other end types out the words, "STOP CRITTING MEEEEE!" The other team then proceeded to core my hunchy. Meanwhile, everyone on my team, and probably a few on the opposing team, started laughing our heads off. Atlas driver said that I had melted every single thing in his mech off.

There are still ways to make the game fun and interesting. Try a machine gun build (that's my project for the weekend, testing out the flamers and machine guns). Get wild. What have you got to lose? Find a fun group of players that you can call friends who are stompy mech game fanatics and just have some fun. It's only repetitive if you play it that way.

I've been waiting for what seemed like forever for this game to get made... ever since I first got hooked on mech games as a teenager. It'll take more than 8 months for me to lose my taste for it. In fact, I'm not sure I could at this point, since the devs keep adding content. Slowely perhaps, but still adding. Hell, I only have a two button mouse..... just think how much fun I'll have when I get a third button!

I learned how to manage burnout years ago while playing WoW. It really is rather simple. I just don't play that much, heh.

123 days since open beta began. 1057 matches played.. An average of only 8.59 matches a day.

^^^^^^^ 1231 drops

I think I started playing around June. Took a break a few months ago. Unfortunately, I still don't feel like playing again. It's not so much that there's nothing to do, but for me, more so that the promise of "more content to come" holds little weight for me. I know that what I, and many others envisioned MWO to be is either not possible or very far off (based on my observations over many months now). Now, granted this is a beta. But that doesn't make me want to play, and that's a problem for PGI. They need people to play, whether it be Beta or not.

This is a great game, but it will take a lot of work and a lot more content to bring me back. Still continuing to watch for updates.

I'm not a fan of the whole esport thing. Nor is that what was explained in the Dev blogs. Personally I feel this game has so much more potential that what is being delivered and planned. Nobody expected this to be a lame FPS arena game, but that's what we have here and I'm fairly sure Paul had something to do with that knowing his CS background. They have dubbed this game as "the thinking man's shooter" but honestly the thoughts I get when playing this game are "what were they thinking!" and "why do I even bother".

They've removed features that were integral to the balance of the game (knockdowns anyone?) and have no clue when they will be back. It takes them months to release new mechs, maps, and features that actually add to the game play. Not to mention the fact that they ask for feedback and then consistently ignore it and fail to heed any advice regardless of how sound it is.

The only reason this game is still even installed on my computer is because I spent money on a founders pack. I'm begging PGI to give me something to spend my MC on and reason to actually use my premium time, but they are either unable or unwilling to implement compelling features and game play. At this point this is a third rate game with a AAA license.
