Simple and cheap if it were a non-ranked game, but I think PGI wants to be the only one running servers for this game.

Any mode that lets you make any sort of private match or custom settings is likely going to be 'exhibition' or 'simulation' of some sort, and wouldn't earn you any C-bills, xp, or acheivements

Other companies like Nexon sued owners of private servers for copywrite infractions.

With some changes. Of course.

I do not think so.
But you missed the important question:
Will PGI do it?
No they will not interfere with their own monetizing plan.

As I recall the answer is that some day they might let people have private servers running the game once they figure out a sales model for doing this.

Sarouter: When will a private practice/game room be implemented?
A: No firm ETA. We have to solve a few technical issues, along with design something that is viable from a business point of view.

And as long as you don't advertise (IE come into the forums, and PM someone the info, don't post on the boards about it), they probably wouldn't know unless someone blabbed.
I'd rather see that, even if the player base was smaller at least I wouldn't have to deal with the bad decisions that are made.

Not what the OP is aiming at. He's speaking of setting up a server of your own on hardware you own or rented and having your own rules on it like ban certain weapons and stuff.

Yup exactly.
Basically someone takes the game and hosts it via their own servers. It's hard with persistent worlds (IE WoW), but I think doing it with a game like this wouldn't take much since it's just on-off matches.

define soon.
i heard a rumor they would be coming after community warfare and i don't think i can hold out that long cause i'm sick of having to be a MinmaxWarrior/BoatWarrior/RobotJock to be competitive. i need to play private matches with others who r sick of this too. poor me.

Well there are basically two ways for this.
1. PGI lets you have private servers that they host. (Here's a tip, this ain't happening for a long time)
2. Someone takes the game and starts hosting it on their own server (This is illegal, but would allow you to join their server and control the rules of the game to your liking), this is also not likely, but more likely to happen then PGI offering it.

I vote option 1.

So I highly doubt this will see the light of day for a few years.

Maybe because in the long run they will let us choose the map anyways. And those that like it the way it is just keep it set to random map.

The exploit causes you to disconnect from a match leaving the team short a person.
Is that cool with you?
