Pretty baby, with speed tweak, can go 89.1. Since its big and heavy, it can actually stay in a brawl longer than a 4sp, run cooler and deal more damage with its extra srm6. It's an assault that can hunt down most mediums and plenty of lights. But dont be the first one to a fight. You'll be destroyed. Awesomes arent built to tank. Wait for the fighting to begin then come racing out from behind your team and flank the enemy.

This costs an arm and a leg in space bucks but this is my favorite mech, by far. It's also possible to drop the pulses for vanilla medlas and to throw artemis on the missiles, but I just dont like it. It doesnt fit my style. It's rare when I dont deal 500 damage in this thing. It's thin torso and wide body make it perfect for torso turning and spreading damage everywhere. Just watch that left arm- it's very important.

What do you want to do? Long range? Brawl? Multi range?

Sounds like you want to fight from range, so I'd recommend a PPC/ERPPC in the RA for some sniping ability. I also recommend dropping the LRM15s in the LA. You've only got four missile tubes on the LA, so the number of salvos and cycle times are going to suck. It's probably better to put streaks or SRMs on the LA for close encounters.

You play around with builds using this fantastic tool: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de

In my opinion, the PB is best suited to be a brawler. My current build is:

XL400
ERPPC
2 MLs
3 SRM6s
18 DHS
Endo

Plenty more PB build discussion here.

Helmstif's looks pretty good if you like LRM(I'm not an LRM fan)

I'm only on my first Awesome, but If it were me I'd try this to start. I happen to like spamming PPC and this is similar to my favorite 8R build to date. I call it "PPC Giddy" since it spams lots of PPC before overheat, and while moving into SRM range.

I use this one. Since the arm launcher only has 4 tubes, I find it easier to use when it fires in just two volleys instead of three. Two large pulse lasers are also very easy to shoot light mech's legs with.

i'm using this:

With the llas it can do some damage at long range (a lot of player panic when the paperdoll flash all over) and i don't feel useless at mid-long range :)

You will have to be clear with what your preferred playstyle is. That said, you can try and see if this loadout works out for you.

And be aware that like the 9M the PB gets a lot more potent when mastered

I wrote up two different builds for the beast on another thread. Check them out here. There is a build for brawling and a build for fire support. Brawling is certainly doable with the PB, but I found a mix of direct and indirect fire support a little more comfortable.

Speaking of indirect support, I much prefer two packs of LRM5s in the LA than one pack of LRM10 or god help you 15s. Two packs of LRM5s come out mainly as one eight missiles burst with only two little missiles tailing the launch. An LRM15 pack comes out as four staggered bursts that will likely be eaten by AMS.

I think every Awesome should have an ERPPC on its arm, or at the very least a PPC. This way, regardless of whether you have an SRM or LRM based build, you will be effective on every map, especially Alpine.

I run ERPPCs on the RA of my PB and 9M, and I find I can pretty much fire it at will from range with no heat issues at all. Yesterday, I put like 6 ERPPC shots into an Atlas from about 600m on Alpine, then I used my 20+ kph speed advantage and terrain to quickly close the distance and tear what was left of him to shreds with SRMs. Seriously, this guy was screwed from the moment I saw him. I got about 3 shots on him before he even knew where I was. I had to eat some of his LRM volleys, but his fate was sealed. None of his other weapons were effective at that range.

Running an ERPPC really gives the fast brawler Awesomes a great standoff capability, and it's still useful at point blank range.

I think the 9M is pretty much tailor-made for carrying ERPPCs (and PB too for that matter). I only carry normal PPCs on my 8R (since I only have 17DHS on that). It's the one thing I wish I could find a way to do better with on that mech - but it just runs a little too hot with ERs.
