Agree paying $5-7 just to unlock a single camo for a single type of mech is insane. The prices need to be reviewed glad I read this thread as I nearly spend 1250 on the Cobra camo pattern thinking all of my mechs could use it.

Considering how many mech types this game will end up with its going to be insanely expensive for anyone who wants to paint up lots of different types =P

singe USE is pretty ******** IMO, should be more along the lines of a single unlock (IE just for the mech you bought it on, but not other mechs of the same type) so I could juggle camos for one mech, but would still need to rebuy it for other mechs. This would make it more practical if they adjusted the prices to make buying the more expensive package a "bulk unlock' intended to be more appealing for people looking to camo up several mechs.

Though as it stands full unlock camos and any color outside the 'basic' is pretty damn overpriced considering a few seconds into the fight its going to get scrapped off your mech anyways.

While i agree for the basic camos, the premiums (phraken/bucaneer) are fine as is. The work that's gone into them is pretty cool, especially when several of the buc patterns even alter between variants

Try and remember that PGI is a company and they need to make money, if they don't we don't have a game. Things are going to be more expensive because we have a relatively small user base, their expected sales would be in the tens of thousands units, if we had more users and they could reasonably expect sales in the millions of units then things would probably be cheaper.

Be grateful PGI is only selling us things that have no real impact on game play.

There's a reason I wait for sales before I buy camos and colors. Just give it a few weeks, and something will end up at 50% off, and then the price for a full unlock isn't so bad.

They would get a ton more sales if they priced them more reasonably and thus way more profits. Its not like there is a limit to how many camo patterns they will release. If they priced them reasonably people would buy them ALL not just a single one and never change it again.

One more question:
How do the colours work? Do I buy them for every mech, or is is it limited like the camos?
... all of my mechs are green -.-

Colors are unlocked, permanently, for all mechs.

And re: prices, they do occasional sales, which I find to be a better way to grab colors and patterns. Never pay full price!

Hey Guys... Thanks for the thread very informative....

So they way I understand it is...
Buy a Camo Pattern (the expensive one) it unlocks for that chassis
Buy a Color - it is unlocked for all mechs

my question is if I buy a pattern (which has 3 colors ) are those colors unlocked for other mechs too?
like say buy a bucaneer pattern for atlas... will I be able to use bucaneer red on other mechs from then on?

Old thread is old, but thank you for using it. :)

Yes, while the pattern is only for the chassis you chose, the colors can be used on any mech because you would have bought those three colors. Thus like any paints they will work on all mechs.

However you do not have to use those colors. You could choose the pattern and then choose other, cheaper colors if you wanted.
For example you can buy these colors which are found under "Basic."

Myself, these are the colors I personally run on my Buccaneer skinned Hunchback.

And if you look carefully you'll see why.

Smile!

That face doesn't show with the default colors.
