Now that there is no separate queue (I assume, since I'm running into 8-mans), is there any reason to have 4-man and 8-man teams? Can we go back to the "any number of players" model that we had before the 4-man phase of matchmaking? Maintaining an 8-man is a pain in a smallish group; I can't take breaks without breaking up the band

You shouldn't be running into 8-mans, the hotfix yesterday put them back in their seperate queue. Unless they move the 4-man groups into the 8-man queue along with some willing solo players, I can't see how it could work short of having unbalanced (numbers) matches.

Okay, I haven't played since the hotfix I guess. I was of course running under the assumption that the queues were merged as they obviously were for a while there.

I think that with Elo in place, they can get rid of the separate 8 man queue.

Folks dropping with a full 8 man lance should get bubbled up to the top and end up getting matched mainly against each other anyway. The same with all other lance sizes.

Let us play with however many folks we happen to have online at any given time, please.

Please allow us to do any number of people. It actually promotes filling an 8 man by steadily grabbing people. I would rather say "yea we have room, only 4 of us, lets do five or six" instead of, "nope full, start your own group then maybe when you get four we can do 8." Just makes more sense with ELO working things out anyhowz. Hell it doesn't even look like weight classes matter anymore so it shouldn't be too difficult to change.

Please, please, please do this. If there is one gripe I currently have with the game above all others it is that some of my friends are forced to drop solo and/or we're forced to break up into smaller teams just to play. The introduction of ELO coupled with, perhaps, some sort of premade balancing should be sufficient to make 5-7 player groups workable. Honestly, I don't even care if we're forced to play at a bit of a disadvantage. I just want to be able to drop together.

Will help the cause of trying to keep this on the front page.

Agree with prior posters. Now that elo is implemented, having one pool of players should not be an issue(although I think it never should have been). More the merrier.

T'was a sad day when my group of 6 friends had to start trying to sync-drop. Gone are those days now as well.

It would lower sych drop rates. It sucks to be the 5th man on TS.

Ya, 5th man on TS really does bite hard. Elo rankings should make partials just fine in the regular queue.

Yes please make this happen, I have a 5 man group that just started playing together and it sucks to have 1 person sit out ... though it is funny when they get in our game but on the other team.. but still.

Since the elo system should match equal skilled players, there should be little reason not to let groups in normal que, because now there is no newbie stoping going on(according to PGI). With that logic, there is no reason not to allow them.

Groups of 5,6,7 should be returned but need to be balanced by placing similar group sizes on each team. Then use the remaining open spots to balance Elo ratings with lone-wolf players.

Larger groups will increase the chances of lone-wolf players getting pure lone-wolf games since merc groups would try to run the largest group possible based on how many players are online. This would also remove any need for some groups to try sync-dropping more than 4 players into a match as they could just form a group of 5,6,7 or 8 and be matched against a similar size group with lone wolf players filling in the open positions. With larger groups the chances of a lone wolf player ending up filling these open spots would also decrease.

I joined an 8-man like two times. None of the matches I played were any more or less organized than random drops with a 4-man team, which is what I mostly do. None of the enemies were running 8x D-DCs or anything stupid either, there was a pretty even split among weight classes.

This should happen, even if the matcher decides to increase the overall rating by a certain percentage with each new member in the group in an attempt to "balance" the fact the group is guaranteed to be on VOIP. This would ensure better, smarter solo players join the other team, and also increase the chance of them getting matched up against another pre-made team.

Yes, I'd really like to see this addressed. With the Elo ranking, it shouldn't be necessary to have a separate 8 man queue, leaving groups of 5-7 hanging out to dry.
