I'm sure that in the future, there will be a selection of 'Mech voices that you can purchase and equip. After all, in a F2P market, why wouldn't they provide alternate content for a price? That's how they make money!

But me and my friends were chatting recently, and we realized the perfect 'Mech voice to get. GLaDOS. Not only does she have the cold, mechanical tone that would fit well within a 'Mech, but Valve has been very open about letting other people borrow her character to expand their universes (I mean, the thought of any other company letting a movie maker use their game's main character as a character in a totally unrelated property is unheard of).

I would certainly pay to have her do the VO in my cockpit, I would purchase it the moment it came out.

I'm not suggesting there be any sort of humor or backtalk or insults coming from the computer. Just Ellen McLain's voice processed to sound like GLaDOS, telling me my systems are nominal and missiles are incoming. As a major Portal fanboy (just read the paper I wrote) I would squee every single time I started play, and I know I can't be the only one who feels the same about GLaDOS.

Don't stop at GLaDOS, give SHODAN a voice too.

While it would be very nice, they'd have to get the rights to the voice and hire Ellen McLain to do it...not that it's an impossible undertaking.

Valve is typically quite lax about other games using their properties as cameos and such. I'm sure IGP could strike a deal with valve to not only put MWO on steam(which would be glorious) but also cross-promote via...like a TF2 bobblehead, red/blu camo pattern and the glados voice as promotional items for a steam starter kit. Or something like that.

I don't know, but similar things have been done before so it's not impossible!

I'd like her to comment on my piloting skills than narrate about the battle field
"Nice Shot."
"You know... I could to a better job if only you would turn on autopilot..."
"You better not get us both killed... ha. ha. ha."
"Incoming cake... Just kidding. I am so funny. But really. Watch out."
*when tripping gets implemented, and you trip* "Clumsy fool. *ding* Oh good. My popcorn is done. Can you put it in a bowl for me? I'm having a good time watching you trying to pilot me- I mean... This. Thing..."
*really loud scream* "There's a spider on your shoulder there's a spider on your shoulder there's a spider on your shoulder"

Corporal: "GLaDOS Knight and the Pips sir."

I can't decide if I even like the idea of snark coming from GLaDOS. It would get annoying real fast--imagine the repetitiveness of Betty, but with jokes. Those jokes would get stale super hard, super fast.

On the other hand, those jokes--if used sparingly--could be awseome. There are a huge number of one-liners in Team Fortress 2 that you only hear rarely, just because of how hard they are to get and how rare they are to activate even then. Of course, TF2 had the luxury of building up its library of voice lines over the course of years, while any voice packs for MechWarrior Online would likely only be recorded once, and the voice actors only ever brought back on rare future occasions.

Those both being the case, I think it'd probably be best if a GLaDOS voice pack just played it straight. There's still a little bit of room for her sadistic nature of course--imagine "Critical Damage" being said in glee, while "Target Destroyed" being somewhat disappointed--because this is voice acting, not just line reading. But really, I just want the voice. I want to wrap myself in Ellen McLain's lovely sadistic tones, and just imagine that the BattleTech universe is an alternate reality of the Portal universe (which in a way it is, since like, infinite parallel universes and all that...)

Hmm... I wonder if they could get a Wheatley voice pack too? I would absolutely love to hear his stuttering, rambling tones "Er, that was the ECM... oh ah, you're running out of fuel--INCOMING MISSLE DUCK!"
