So I have been crashing to mech lab lately. A lot. I have tried several suggestions on the forums with no improvement.
I just found one post suggesting playing in full window instead of full screen. I tried it and found something strange. My resolution went way down! Even though I did not change my resolution in the options.

My desktop res is 1920 x 1080. My game res is set at 1280 x 768.

I'm thinking now that if you play full screen you play at desktop resolution regardless of the res you set in game. But in full window you play in game res.

Can anyone confirm or clarify?

To clarify this point in particular, do you mean to say that your Screen Resolution in the Options menu is set to 1280x768?

Yes my Screen Resolution in the Options menu is set to 1280x768. My desktop is set at 1920 x 1080.

Is there a particular reason why your Screen Resolution in Options isn't set to 1920x1080? That would be the source of your problem.

The resolution of the game should be whatever is set in Options regardless of whether you run Fullscreen or Full Windowed.

The reason I tried lower resolutions is because I have an old vid card and I was trying to stop my crashing.

It is not. At lower settings the resolution is always better in full screen than in full window. That was the point of my original post.

I'm not sure what to tell you, then. I just set my game to Fullscreen and played 2 matches, one with my monitor's native resolution of 2560x1440 and one at 1280x768. It was very apparent that the resolution was indeed 1280x768 when I played. Text and other HUD elements were clearly blurry, which would point to the lower resolution being in effect.

Another way I can tell that the game, in Fullscreen mode, was running at 1280x768 is because I run dual monitors. Whenever I run a Fullscreen application on my primary monitor at a resolution that isn't that monitor's native resolution, then windows on the second monitor get greatly shifted to the side. Sure enough, when I launched the game Fullscreen at 1280x768, my Chrome browser on my second monitor shifted something to the magnitude of 2/3rds the width of the monitor to the right. This doesn't happen if I run the game at 2560x1440, the native and desktop resolution of my primary monitor.

So, again, the game is supposed to run at the resolution set in the Options menu regardless of whether it is set to Fullscreen or Full Window. It's the entire reason why games have their own resolution setting. They don't typically follow the set desktop resolution. If it isn't working this way for you, then I'm not sure what to suggest.

Whatever the case may be, I changed my game resolution to match my desktop resolution and changed my mode to full window and I have no crashes yet.
