First, I'd love to have a 6 x ballistic 100 tonner with some backup weapons. This is what I hope the Annihilator ANH-1A would look like after I got done tweaking it in Mechlab;

Hardpoint locations;
2x Ballistic in LA, 1x Energy in LA
1x Ballistic in LT
2x Energy in CT
1x Ballistic in RT
2x Ballistic in RA, 1x Energy in RA

Able to mount at least a 250 rating engine

Upgrades; DHS (4
Engine: 250 XL

Weapons; 4 Medium Laser, 4 AC5, 2 AC2

Since the Annihilator has no hands, it has 9 slots in each arm, 8 for 2 AC5's and 1 for the Medium laser in each arm brings it to capacity. 2 DHS in each side torso, 1 AC2 + 1 ton of ammo, and an AMS in one side torso and AMS ammo in the other side. This + the XL engine's crits takes up all 12 slots in each side torso. 2 Medium lasers and a ton of AC2 ammo in the head (can be swapped with the AMS ammo in the side torso, since you can dump the AC2 ammo by firing it if you lose side torso armor, works until they get actual ammo dumping in the game). 4 tons of AC5 ammo in the legs, and the mech is at 100% capacity, every crit slot used and now we have a tonnage of 83, meaning 17 tons left for armor however you wish to add it.

As far as how to use it, 4x AC5 in group 1, AC2's in group 2, Arm ML's in group 3 and CT ML's in group 4. When firing group 1, you actually cool down especially with a fully mastered variant, when firing group 2 you will overheat but you can add it as heat is available for an extra 8 DPS, use the medium lasers more as backup if/when you run out of ammo (you probably will). Alpha is 44 (48 if you fire a second round of AC2, you probably will), and can be fired 6 times back to back before shutdown on the 7th Alpha, meaning you can crank out 288 damage constantly alpha striking w/o risking shutdown (note; not holding down fire, and with double tapping your AC2's) It will be slow, vulnerable if ganged up on, and slightly skimpy on armor for an assault, but definitely one of the most lethal mechs I can imagine in a head to head fight with good aim. Basically, an uber version of the current CTF-4X when all is said and done.

All mech stats verified using REMLAB (mostly for tracking weight), Smurfy's site (used AS7-D for arm/ct energy layout, CTF-4X for arm ballistics layout, and CPLT-K2 for LT/RT ballistics and other LT/RT gear layout, all with XL 250 and DHS), and Sarna + a stats sheet for an ANH-1A I found on the interwebs.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH AN ANNIHILATOR?!?!?! What hardpoints would you like to see on one? Which variant would you use? (there is an 8 energy hardpoint one out there, 4x PPC and 4 ML stock, yeesh!)

I'd really love to see an Annihilator in-game. It's hard to say what I'd do, having no hands-on experience yet (pc crapped out) but I love the idea of seeing it loaded out with LBX AC's. I always liked the LBX's in previous MW games and I'm really hopped up on the idea of a 100-ton shotgun on legs >=D

Hmm...I'm not so sure, but the way you have the hardpoints laid out like that just screams "MACHINE GUN BOAT" to me! Yea, seriously, I mean, MGs are actually good now after the patch, right?

Sorry, that was entirely sarcastic since I've seen many people loading their Mechs with MGs since the patch. I annihilated (hah) a DRG-3N in my last match that had 3 MGs.

Anyway, if the Annihilator really had that many ballistic slots, I'd probably load up as many UAC5's as I could. Love me some UAC5s...or I wonder how many AC20s it could mount? I guess only 2 if the arms only have 9 slots. Still, 2 AC20's plus other ACs and weapons? Bring it on AC20 cats!

2x AC20 2x AC5, 2x MG (with decent MG's), and 4 medium lasers + a big engine... long range reach and short range oomph, but you'd have a hard time keeping it cool

In arms maybe Largelaser or Medium pulse lasers too ;)


And enough ammo for MG's

I can definitely see the merits of a 60 point long range alpha, I'd have to use 4 medium lasers instead of 2 MPL, due to the carnage an 80 point alpha could wreak, but man you would be slow and short on ammo!

In order to pull this off, you'd have to use a really slow XL engine, be at slightly below 75% armor, and with medium lasers you could mount approx 2 tons of ammo. If you drop it to small lasers, 4 tons, but at that point you might as well just go all ballistic, with light armor on a slow mover you won't last long enough to need backup weapons, so chunk some of the remaining tonnage into armor.

if i could have an annihitlaotr, it would probably have...

2x ac10 2x large lasers 2x med lasers, 8x tons of ammo+ 2x case endo steel standard 300 engine 17 heat sinks 16 tons of armour.

Given that the Atlas max engine is 360, and the Atlas stock is 300, that would suggest that the Annihilator would be a 240 max engine size with its 200 stock engine.

A 240 engine would be really painful to work with and optimize. Although for 4 ballistic slots, I'm sure a compromise could be done.

hi i had one with clan UAC 5 in MW3 ... so well, i think it should be possible to stuff in 6 AC5's and chainfire them, when the last one shoots, the first is allready reloaded ... super heavy rotary ftw
