LOL. Only reason I ask. Is im having issues getting half of the buttons to work. I've macro them to 3 through to = on my keyboard some work others don't. I don't understand why. yet if I use the buttons on say notepad they work fine. But not in the game

Check to be sure the keystrokes themselves are >32miliseconds. Values lower than that may not be long enough events to properly initiate in game commands. When holding a key on a normal keyboard, it generates 20 keystrokes per second, at 32Ms apiece so your macros need to be the same, or close to that.

The only way to get the mouse to fire weapon groups seems to be having the buttons configured to "mouse_button_1" through "mouse_button_5" and then binding those to your weapon group. That means you can only control 4 weapon groups and zoom on mouse 3 with the mouse. I highly recommend using the mouse control panel to bind dpi settings to a couple buttons on the mouse. It is a tremendous help for switching between sniping and brawling mechs.

This worked....problem I have now is. I have on my founders Hunchback, wep grp 3 are machine guns. Pressing and holding a thumb button for obvious machine gun use is only firing short burst. Holding it in, isn't working.

Ok, progress has been made, now to figure out the next bit. When you test your buttons in notepad and you hold your buttons for constant fire, is key generated a single pulse or continuous keystrokes? It sounds like it is pulsing once, and you need to write the other part of the macro script that will make the keystrokes repeat. I use a SteelSeries mouse, but haven't played with any of it's software beyond messing with sensor resolution.

Thank you for helping me. At the moment when I open notepad and press and hold the mouse button that I'm going to use for wep grp 3. Lets call it thumb button. Its only doing one key stroke even though I'm holding it down.

You're quite welcome. Luckily, this is behaving as expected. I say luckily because this problem would be much more complicated if it works correctly in notepad but not the game, once the proper event length was established that is... I'm not sure how SteelSeries has macros set up at the moment, but I will check it out and see if I can figure out how to program that part. Generating repeating keystrokes is one of the most basic macro tasks, so it *shouldn't be a big deal. I'll post back when I figure something out...

Just to give you a heads up on what I do. Their mouse software is lets say crap. Its a nice interface don't get me wrong and easy to understand but the compatibility with other games is a little annoying. I can understand the mouse was designed and made for wow but come on.... I bought it because it looked nice and had what I think to be the best place for the buttons and ease of use. Now to use it. I have to install the software set up custom macros and then save the info onto the onboard memory and then uninstall it. The software is from here http://steelseries.c...pport/downloads I have the wow Cataclysm mouse.

I don't have the cataclysm, and wasn't having much luck with SteelSeries Engine software either. I do believe you can call on autohotkey scripts for the macros though, which would give you full control over their function. Looks like a cool mouse, is it true only 5 out of 14 buttons work outside of WoW though?

No it's not true. In note pad before the 32ms issue you mentioned. I can assign any key on a keyboard to any of the 14 buttons. by use of a simple macro. Open the macro panel give it simple instructions. eg no delay so on and right click on the box to assign the macro. All you do is press the Key you want. and it auto makes it. Eg key number 1 Down, Key number 1 up. you press your thumb button and it will press number 1 in notepad. just holding the mouse button down doesn't scroll number 1.

Good to hear, I thought it sounded too lame to be correct. I did read in a thread about this mouse, that there is an 'enable loop' box you can check to make a key or sequence of keys auto-repeat, which is not a part of the normal SS Engine software so I cant say a whole lot more. It was an answer from a SteelSeries rep from this thread, although I don't know if it will provide you the info you need.

My personal solution in the never ending quest for optimized controls is a slight bit more complicated., but I am quite pleased with the results, especially with it installed in my new pit I'm about to start posting about.

Hey Rebel, just saw this post in controls, about getting a Cataclysm mouse programmed properly for MWO. The parent thread was from a guy having your same problem. Post back with results if this is still relevant...

I found a way to program the buttons for SteelSeries World of Warcraft Cataclysm MMO Gaming Mouse. It involves exporting your profile and then edit the resulting XML file, then import it.
More details on my blog post on evilbox.ro : http://www.evilbox.r...o-gaming-mouse/
Hope it helps.
