just around the corner or 8000 gpu soon? ..............so upgrading the gpu may be a better idea. .............Should I just wait for the 8000 to drop the prices and leap for a 7979/90? I guess this really isn't a question, but more of a what do other people think?

Point of note: AMD isn't releasing any new silicon until late 2013 or early 14. The 8000 series is due out soon. However, AMD has already admitted that the 8000 series is merely a re-branding of the 7000 series that is already out. The GPUs may have a die stepping change similar to how CPU manufactures work, but the cores are still the same lithography.

The last time AMD did a re-branding like this was the 5000 into the 6000 series. Essentially a marketing gimmick (Both AMD & NVidia have done this several times in the past). However, due to trying to squeeze in a few additional efficiency and power handling tweaks, actually left several of their top cards like the 6970 less capable than it's predecessor, the 5970.

PlayStation 4 and X-Box 720 are top of the line electronics for the moment. But, computers will quickly outclass them.

Uh, no.... Hardware in those machines are relatively weak compared to even mainstream/average PC components at this point in time, and those consoles are still not due out for quite awhile yet. By the time they hit most PC components will have undergone another product development cycle.

FYI: Xbox ’720′ info revealed by inside Source
Written by: Jim Plowman on March 4, 2013.
http://www.gamingcap...-inside-source/

There was some information the source was willing to provide. The full details are below:
  • Tech Specs; AMD eight-core x64 1.6GHz CPU, Direct3d 11.x 800MHz GPU, and 8GB of DDR3 RAM
  • While no confirmation on an announcement date, E3 will be “Party Central” in the Xbox booth
  • The new ’720′ will have 3x the processing speed of the current 360
  • No hard release date but it looks like Holiday 2013
  • 2 launch versions. 320 GB Arcade / 500 GB Pro. Exact pricing is unknown
  • 1 TB HDD available as a separate purchase
  • It will not include Blu-Ray
  • No picture was available as prototype consoles are packaged in a 360 slim case to “avoid complications” about the design until announcement
  • Xbox Smartglass is still a feature in use
  • No word on Kinect 2.0
  • No word on “Immersive” technology being implemented

As per the above comment, MWO is not really that graphically intensive. Yes, it makes GPUs run like space heaters, but it still will get good framerates on decent settings with almost any hardware. Even my stupidly old, woefully underpowered laptop GPU (5730) can run the game at around 30fps on just a bit below all medium, and it's equivalent to a desktop 5570. My 5770 and 5850 could both run the game on high, though not quite at 60fps (I had to knock a few things to medium to maintain close to 45-55fps on the 5850, and run about an even split on the 5770).

So a 7850 is massively overpowered for MWO, provided there's no technical trouble (you know, where the game just "decides" it's going to run at 15fps for no reason). Most people at this point are CPU-bound, even on very high end CPUs. The only reason to upgrade it is for the future games the new consoles will bring.

The 8000 series is strange. The entire series is a collection of OEM-only rebrands of 7000 series parts, not available for individual purchase, thus far.

The only new parts coming out of note will be new 7000 series parts sometime this year, and after that, hopefully an HD 9000 series later next year.

Well I think most of us are forgetting that these are not the final graphics that the game will have. They haven't even gone onto the most recent version of Cryengine yet...let alone DX11.
