Alright, for all organized playergroups, there is something for you!

The Spherewars Planetary League is currently accepting clan applications for more than 400 Canon BT units in 17 different factions ranging from the big houses to periphery states, pirate kingdoms and of course some of the most famous mercenary units!

Right now, the unit logistics are almost done and the command interface is starting to work.
The fight reporting system has started development last week and is expected to be working in a first iteration within the next 4 weeks.

At this time, the league will hopefully go live and thats why application phase is available from now on at http://spherewars.sp.ohost.de/!

There you will find some more information about the project.

Right now the whole thing is a one man show, so if you know some PHP/MySQL or if you are familiar with WordPress administration or forum management..... help is greatly appreciated!

The first thing I suggest is to find a host that doesn't throw floating advertisments right on my face when I visit your site. I know some enjoy things hitting them in the face like that, but I am not one of them.

inb4 adblock.

well, if you know a free host, without such things... tell me.

And as long as I dont know if there is enough interest here to get this thing flying.... I will not spend money for server and domain, even though it is not that expensive to get both today.

If there is enough interest... moving the whole thing to a new server is definately an option Iam ready to take.

Or you could just play MegaMek/MekWars.

Actually you could do that on spherewars, if you find an other MegaMek guy in the oponent clan ^^

But the motivation behind this is to play mainly MW:O with some purpose behind, not just lame random matches over and over again.
And what better is there than to conquer the Inner Sphere? ;-)

I applaud you wanting to bring CW into the game earlier than slated by the devs..... but allowing all those other games simply means you might as well just play one that has all that built into it like MekWars. Where when I drop I know my opponent has a matched up BV, in stock mechs, limited by what his faction can provide or he can scavenger and repair with an actual economy and community warfare. Me... I'll just wait for the CW in Mechwarrior Online and play those other games for those other aspects till then.

You are reinventing the wheel.

Makes me wish there was a NBT version set up for MWO. That's one of the most well developed meta game options out there for rompy stompy robot fans imo.

You are reinventing the wheel.

Actually it is my fault that it is not stated such at the spherewars page:

MW:O is the main game and you have to be able to drop MWO!
Only thing is:
If your oponent team and yours agree, you can drop in all the other games as well, the reporting system will make it possible.

You could even do a 4v4 with houndreds of mechs and tanks and so on in an epic megamek game.

Still, if there is no Mechcommander or Megamek player in the opponent team... it is MWO.

MWO is mandatory, the rest optional!

Oh yeah, I'd love that too!
Unfortunately there is nothing like that and PGI-CW nowhere to be seen for quite a while.

Thats why I started this... there are a lot of people getting tired by the random matches without any drop balance.

In spherewars, you will have some drop weight and other drop changing things like ecm restrictions or different weight and roles for attacker/ defender teams.

Thankfully the 8v8 or later 12v12 matches are not under matchmaking rules in MWO so you currently can do somethig like that:

Defender teamd down to 400 tonns droplimit, only needs to prevent the attacker raiding team to capture all the points in conquer mode.

Attacker has 550 tonns but no ecm and needs to be in control over all mining points once to win.

This and other things are planed for spherewars to make matches more interesting.

you'll be running into trouble this patch as sync dropping will most likely be impossible now

Unfortunately they just provide a nice CMS for people creating some websites without the abillity to code yourself directly against a database.

Ok folks, since I got some questions about the general ahhhm "workflow" of spherewars, I set up some short overview here for you:
click

And since I am nearing the first - if not nice but working - implementation, applications are open!

Anyone who starts with this attitude "I won't spend any money until I'm super popular and famous" has a destiny to fail. You aren't gonna get any popularity with a crappy free site so looks like you've ran into a vicious rat wheel. Might as well give up now and not waste another minute on this. You are not up for this.
