How fast can you make an Awesome and how do you go about making it that fast?
...because it was frankly terrifying.

85kph in a 9M is easily strikable. without going XL.

And yes, some games in the AWS I feel like a bully running the playground, other games I get my a$$ handed to me.

Yep, it sure is...if you don't mind packing less firepower than a medium Mech that is also faster and more maneuverable and less of a target.

It's a question of precision fire and armor. At the end of the day the Awesome will still out last any medium in combat.
Could I go XL engine? Sure. I probably will at some point once my Assault ELO kicks up. But right now? It can't be too horrible when it's putting Stalkers, Fatties, and Dual 20 K2s in Face Hump Standoffs away. (I did it for giggles, because I'm a Heavy pilot.I don't like sacrificing that much speed to get decent firepower. And if I had the choice in which I will trade I usually pick Firepower.) The thought though of putting an XL on something with STs as massive as an Awesome scares the daylights out of me though. Especially with all the Fatlas ASK7ks I've put down since closed beta in my heavy mechs taken into account, and in my opinion the ST on a Fatty are harder to hit than an Awesome's.

Not to be nit-picky, and I'm not knocking that build, but my response was specifically geared towards the comment that the AWS-9M could hit 85 KPH without going XL. You fell about 14 tons short in that department. I'm not saying that there aren't good 9M builds that don't use XL engines. I'm just of the opinion that if you want to top out the speed on a 9M then it's XL or bust.
