This is a suggestion thread, but first it’s a please don’t thread.

Please don’t go ahead with the mid-March launch of “consumables”. You’re doing a good job by giving us a sneak preview of things to come. This is exactly what we need so that we as fans and customers can voice our opinions over the changes and updates. This proposed change has been met with largely negative feedback and has lead to some players threatening to leave the game.

Awhile back we had repair and re-arm. This was taken out of the game because it was seen as a tax of sorts. The unintended consequences were people rolling into battle with a less prepared mech just so that they could make some money. Adding “consumables” in the way you have proposed is being seen as a tax because of the perceived advantage it would give to players leading to it being a must have item. These items also appear to give a distinct advantage to those willing to pay for them by allowing them to take up one half of the space for similar benefits. Giving an advantage to people who pay to play is the fastest way to lose free to play players. People don’t like feeling as though they are at a disadvantage because they can’t or won’t afford to pay for more items in this game.

You’ve done a great job up until now implementing the pay features of this game; additional mech bays are convenient, but not necessary. Cosmetic upgrades are convenient but not necessary, and Hero mechs are just a different but not over powered variant of things that are already available. Premium time makes the game more fulfilling for people who have less time to play as it shortcuts getting new mechs and equipment but still requires that you play the game to win the game. The new “consumables” break from this model by allowing people to purchase items for use in matches straight with MC. This is a bad idea because it is a real dollar tax on the game.

Fixing the Consumables system

Consumables should be usable once per match, but re-usable from match to match. This would remove the tax aspect of the item while still allowing it to only be used a single time per match. There should be no difference between C-bills and MC items. This would allow people who want to take a short cut to getting these difficult to obtain items a short cut to obtaining them, while allowing those who would rather play the game to get them the same options.

Coolant Flush should not be included in this. It is a system that requires modifications to the mech and should take tonnage and critical slots to implement. Placing coolant flush in the module slot ignores the reality and physics of a system that would do this. It offers benefits with negligible trade offs.

Overall

I am not sure how a system of Artillery strikes, UAVs, and etc will change the game. I know I love/hate them in modern warfare. I suspect I’ll love/hate them here as well. I know that I won’t pay real money for them. And I know that if they aren't done right they’ll make this game less fun. So please PGI be careful.
