Good way to make money.

But not a good way to make friends.

Instead of forced repairs at the end of a match, just have a choice between "Repair" and "Wait"

People will want to spend a couple hundred MC to get back into the game sooner.

Newbies with damaged 'Mechs (excluding trial mechs) will need to wait until their repairs are done before joining (in that 'Mech at least). Otherwise; they can pay for an early start. Damage could be measured in seconds, maybe it takes a total of 20 minutes to repair a damaged core, depending on how much armor you have. Obviously, assaults will have a disadvantage, as lights can repair sooner.

You could do the same with customizations.

10 minutes per change, may take 2 hours for your 'Mech to be ready for the battle field.
Or, spend some extra cash and have it done right away. Or buy the 'Mech you want (+deliver time) and avoid customizing. That may even make the battlefield a bit more balanced.

Your first topic, "What do you WANT to pay for?"
Needs to be replaced with "This is what you HAVE to pay for"

I'd rather have (full) rearm and repair costs back instead.

Where's the profitability in it?
Add repair/rearm, if you can't afford it, you wait a duration period.

Because I see your proposal as a money grab, unlike the coolant issue that a lot of people that seem to be going nuclear about.

Maybe just make is simple:

Non-Premium players have to wait 90 seconds after a match before being able to launch a new match... um, for server bandwidth savings.

Premium players have no enforced wait time

I like this. But, it might make the forums go nuclear again.

On second thought ... :)

Anyone Played Real racing 3?

Go play it, then come back and tell us what you think about "waiting to play"

That's where I got the idea.

I never said it was a good idea for game play.

I just said it was a good way to make money, by making people pay to spawn or wait. Rewards good players (less damage, less wait time).

The comments in the Realracing 3 reviews seem to disagree with the reviewer, and I play that game and also disagree.

The repair/reload wait time will benefit the game and the company.

- Encourages players to use lighter mechs for the quicker repair time.
- Encourages players not to boat for the quicker reload time
- Encourages players to use multiple 'Mechs for a quicker spawn while 'Mech A is repairing/Reloading
- Encourages players to have MC on hand in order to speed up the R/R time during free Premium weekends etc.

Other then making people with only 1 mech wait, there isn't much downside

What's good for the company is good for all of us, eventually.

Im actually glad that someone is talking and suggesting about it.
You could also trow in some customization on how repairs are gonna occur, lets say if you dont wanna w8 for your weapon to repair then you can risk and take it with you on the battlefield, meaning that gauss rifle will repair faster (3 health), than AC/20 (18 health), so you can just cut of from AC/20 health - e.g. 10/18 - to save time

Preventing people from playing the game isn't a good way to get them to pay for it.

Full R&R is not compatible with a real time video game.

Also, using LRM's, I would win a match, have 5 kills and 2 assists, have
1000+ XP but still lose money winning.

No thanks.

Make R&R 1/10 the cost it was an I say fine.
But winning should never make you lose money...

Else all savlage bonus would go to the one who killed
them and not spread out to everyone...

I agree with most of this. As far as a win never costing more than a loss? I whole heartedly disagree. If you load up an XL engine 10 tons of LRM's and double heat sinks, then there should be a very real possibillity that you lose cash on a match. Logistics are part of the game. If you win match after match but you're losing money, then you need to reconsider your loadout.

The balance needs to be such that a mech that is expensive to operate doesn't automatically mean it's better and a mech that's cheap doesn't mean it's worse.

If you pay to rearm, yes. Or you can use MC, which won't interfere with C-bills.

Or you could just wait 20 seconds per missile + damage you took (say 20 minutes total), and use a different 'Mech for a few rounds.

Don't have another 'mech? You can buy one with C-bills, or MC. Up to you.

You are preventing none-paying players from playing the game none-stop. A small wait time does little to impact game play, except the use of the same 'Mech in a long period.

Considering the community features, customization and the fact MWO runs in a Window for the main screen, there is plenty to do while you are waiting for time to pass.

Or you can launch a new 'Mech.

Or you can spend 1 MC per minute and rush-repair/rearm.

Yes, it does add a negative aspect to free-play.

Pay to play more often is better than the current, paying for battlefield advantages.

Maybe If Repair and Rearm was to come back (During Community warfare or some such) we could use the "wait system" to not use C-bills, based on the C-bills cost.

You could allow for MC repair as well then,

Everyone has a Choice then:

1) Wait for your mechanics to do the repairs,
2) Pay for the repairs using C-bills,
3) Pay for the repairs using MC,
4) Say "screw waiting" and jump in another mech!

And I just realised 4 people above me said basically the same thing...

However I still perfer not waiting to play, and no repair and rearm,

That's exactly my proposal. People aren't supposed to like it, but it eliminates pay to win, adds variety, and gives an advantage for people willing to pay, maybe decreased time for premium accounts as well.

Thanks for the clarification BadConduct.

I must have mis-interpreted your OP, I thought you meant wait or pony up MC. (didn't realise you meant C-bills could be used)

Personally i cant figure out why anyone would want this feature any new player that comes along will buy their first mech and race to customize it and find out they screwed up and realize they will have to wait for it to be repaired and then wait for the changes they made to go threw and even for vet players this is horrible your either waiting to use your mech and the suggestions are a long wait i got the founders pack and have 5 mechs at the moment and this would still **** me off many of the people i play with have only a couple mechs and i try to stay in the same weight class as them for obvious reasons or you could pay real money for what to repair a mech each time you take it into battle even if you allowed people to use cbills your paying to play a free to play game.

Some of the best free to play games that do well like World of Tanks, Planet Side 2, LoL, Mechwarrior online (right now), and many off the mmo's who are only around because of free to play model like AoC, Startrek online, Dc Universe are they they all allow the player to play the game with almost all the features but charge for extras and or customization options or ways to speed up xp or non real money money from their respective game they do not cut off parts intrecial to the game and make you pay for it or limit the time you get in the game the games that do that are the ones people dont like to play and personally i would stop playing the game if i had to pay real money to bypass a 20 min wait on a virtual mech each time and im sure alot of people would to considering all the fuss about the addition of coolent flush (requires mc) for a small bonus.
