As I can't pick which trainingground map I get, I cannot repeat for confirmation. But in Forest Colony my grid map was not functioning on my HUD but it was there on other maps. So I assume that a missing grid was the anomoly and not having grids available.

This is a known bug. In fact if you look at the patch notes it says this.
