Also thinking some kind of insurance program -- pay MC and get insured from Repair / Rearm, bring back c-bill costs for repair / rearm. Getting your 'Mech blown out from underneath you should hurt, even if it's just to the pocketbook. Paying real money to protect your pocket book doesn't give you an edge on the battlefield, but it does protect you from an inconvenience.
PGI can be making money off of us in other ways beyond unbalanced modules.

yes... it will be a glorious mushroom cloud of froth... and yet it needs to happen.
That would be cranking the immersion level up in a big way. My merc company trashes your merc company (all in a day's work, I say). Before moving on to the next fight, my company techs (hired, trained, and upgraded) take a quick look at the smoking pile formerly known as your mech and torches off a few choice components. We wouldn't have time to sift thru all the dirt in the map for every chunk, or to load up a whole mech carcass, since we are on our way to the next drop zone in our bid to control that sector. After we lift off, you miserable losers would creep out of hiding and retrieve the pathetic remains of your mechs. Much repairing and replacing of components later, you will be back in the fight -- possibly at a loss or at the very best a break-even (mech insurance policy?).
Losing should hurt, as we move into community warfare and all that jazz. One of the oldest features of BT and MW games is claiming the spoils of combat.
I continue to be old-fashioned about these things.
Considering they removed the mechanic that would simulate this and have stated that it isn't likely to return, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Probably going to get blasted for this but here goes:
How about a hybrid of a "salvage" system and the upcoming "Dropship" mode? Something like, for each enemy kill you "unlock" one of your 'dropship' mechs to respawn in? That way kills will have some definite in-game effect without blowing the economy all to hell?
Just spitballing here.

I don't know how this has anything to do with salvage at all -- and puts a losing team at a severe disadvantage. You just got killed, so now the enemy gets another 'Mech to drop on you?

Salvage like this just turns into a random lottery. I prefer the set values now. Imagine people going around just trying to attack people with LB's or Gauss Rifles to get the best salvage. Whoooo! I got an item worth $400,000. It's like I just played for 5 games!

But that's the whole point - it's suppose to be a randomized lottery, to where taking a risk can provide a potential payout. And a revenue generator for PGI.

yes.. salvage should be more exciting.. maybe randomly drop weapons plan (1 of 10) or mech parts (depending on you kill) in which when completed it would allow you to assemble it..
1) this would help with the roll out of experimental weapons/ clan weapons and not have it flood the whole mwo universe..
2) Kill enough hero mechs and enough luck for each parts to drop (maybe 10 parts) and you have yourself your very own hero mech.
surely assembly could use some mechanics to assemble which would then cost MC (maybe 1000MC)

I miss the old Repair and Rearm. I run a medium mech and have founder status so I didnt feel the crunch that the basic lrm warriors and zomgAtlas pilots at the time felt.
It would be nice to have a hardcore game mode with the old mechanics in. I remember the really crazy low income patch they had. It added and amazing amount of realism. Here I am a mechwarrior, in a state of technological degradation, fighting tooth and nail to get my mech and then to outfit it one component at a time.
Salvaged items or even just armour from enemy mechs would fit nicely with the model as you can get a little boost from wining matches like armour or ammo. On rare occasions get an engine or high dollar autocannon etc. Awarding on a per kill basis isnt the way to go. Develop more awards for the various important actions in game and then use match score to have a weighted division of loot. Ie The higher your match score the greater your % chance for rare items, allow everyone on winning team to get one item, amount and rarity performance dependent.

not holding my breath... just hoping. Just because they said one thing doesn't mean they won't do something else. Something cool.

Perhaps if they re-implemented repair and rearm, then allowed you to purchase "insurance" packages to get rid of them for MC, they could eek out some revenue, too.
