1. Sure, as long as there's no change to function and part is non-essential. Better yet; external mech doodads that make the mech look different, but provide no functional benefits.

2. Yes. We might as well have a straight MC to Cbill package if we can buy mechs for MC and sell for Cbills.

3. Consumables for MCs; as long as all the same are available for cbills. Pay to grind less, or pay for convenience. Don't cross the boundary.

4. Nope. Laser colours are gameplay essential. Would be confusing to have purple and orange lasers, and small laser that fire green or blue.

5. Nope; flight pattern provides differences in gameplay; a pinching X pattern (as it is now) produces different results from a spiral helix pattern (after 5th of March patch).

6. Nope; could be confused with a different weapon.

7. Yes; easy way to give players content for money. The most natural of exchanges.

Like I said, it took 10 minutes :) all your concerns are valid. For lasers I'd probably say having one alternative colour for each variant would be fair, and not too confusing. The rest, you're right.

Thinking about it, I'd pay a lot of money to have an external array of sensors and radar dishes for my mechs. Would look cool as hell.

Or cargo nets filled with crates of salvage!

Edit: I'd pay to have my mech looked roughed up, with lubricant leaking from the joints, and rust around the hinges :P and maybe have it sound all creaky.

I assumed he meant purely aesthetic things for the mechs, with number 1.

I really don't like his #3, or any consumables for MC. Unless any consumables can feasibly purchased for every single match by a free player, it still looks too pay-to-win for my tastes.

On #2, as long at it's the same conversion rate for buying Mechs with MC and selling for C-Bills, or at least not significantly better than it, I'd be fine with that.

1) Kill hashes on Mechs. Possibly only showing your top kill game (so we don't get something ridiculous for people with thousands of kills). I'm sure some people will want to flaunt their best game stat.

2) Battle rewinder. Purchasing this allows you to replay a limited amount of battles from the prespective of all Mechs in the game, as well as possible set camera locations.

3) Alternate HUD fonts and graphics.

4) A Mech skin incorporating the face of (insert your favorite PGI dev).

5) CANON Battletech unit skins such as the ones we got from illustrations in Field Manuals.

i've never liked gambling but many f2p games have done quite well with raffles and mystery boxes.

1. Custom decals.

100 MC per mech and decal to be able to use your own decals. Especially interesting for units.

2. Special Skins/Paintjobs.

1000 MC to get a "founders upgrade" for any mech. Basically a flashy skin that gives 10-25% bonus CB.

3. Urban Mech.

First MC only mech. 5000 MC per Variant.

4. Clan Founders.

Basically the same as the old founders. Shiny forum badge and stuffz.

5. Customizable Avatar.

Why is this not ingame yet?

How about kill stickers like the ones displayed on fighter planes? By mech variant and one for each kill? Maybe even K/D rounded down?

It will have the added benefit of people gunning for you when they see your kills. :)

I actually buy that, balancing the economy after introducing consumable power is not going to be fun.

FX-only weapons. I want a laser confetti shooter, a flock of angry birds LRM launcher, and paintball ballistic gun. These should be 0-weight items. It certainly shouldn't be single use.

First, thanks for pointing out that post by Niko. I'm not sure if 'reassuring' is the right word, but it IS good to know that they are at least acknowledging that the fans are panicing.

On the topic of the thread...

Two common things brought up players want (in some amount) are 1.) For the name of your mechs to be displayed at the end of the match, and 2.) To be able to pay some MC to turn your mech into a pseudo-hero-mech, where it gets a bonus to C-bill generation after each match (potentially at different price teirs? more expensive -> bigger bonuses? ).

My thought is... Why not combine the two ideas? So, you can pay some amount of MC, likely more expensive for larger mechs, then after every match other players see:

[LNW] Tvae: "Cattersplat" [Cplt-A1]

Or some such concept. Obviously, new report features for innappropriate mech names would likely be necessary, but I think it would be something a number of players would enjoy.

Additionally, an option to turn off the display of mech names (similar to how founders tags can be toggled) would be very nice.

(Note: That is not the actualy name of my A1.)

That'd be great for counting coup. I bet those crazy Clan RPers would love it.

MWO is making PGI money. The problem is that they are spending that money on other projects. It's not a blilliant move to take resources from an unfinished but so far successfull project and use it for other possibly failures.

I think you're mistaking Piranha Games for Infinite Game Publishing.

Piranha Games is the developer, IGP is the producer. One of them gets the money that MWO makes and it's not the one making it.

MWO is making IGP money, what it's spent on is not the decision of Piranha. I doubt they'd be giving the money away to a browser based TBS or a yet-another-MOBA made by completely separate developers given half a choice.

You could do a lot of special items for mechs. Spikes, chains, custom knee caps(skull, eagle, lion face, etc...), tabards, and flags. There are all kinds of things that you could cosmeticaly do to mechs that wouldn't be as wild as a top hat but still allow personalization that other people could see.

Being able to gift people cbills for a small percent of MC.

Clan mech founders style pack is not a bad idea either.

1) Rentable private servers. Full control over a private server hosted on PGI's boxes. No c-bills or xp rewards. Rent by the match, by the day, or by the month. I bet all serious groups are going to want at least one on standby.

2) Very expensive, very visible aesthetic things. Give the people who want to throw money at the game a way to let everyone know they're rich enough to afford it.

These are by far the two most profitable ideas I can think of.

If we really want to delve into the rabbit hole, it all points to IGP. Remember that controversy that IGP was pooling founder program money away from MW:O towards their other games (*cough* MW:Tactics *cough* garbage *cough*)?

This also might be the reason we are seeing an influx of hero mechs as well. IGP is putting a financial strangle hold on the project and are the most likely candidate to kill the game if that is the case.

Anyway, including some type of more expensive decal / painscheme labs for users to upload custom paint jobs could be a massive source of income. But since we're talking longer term and not so much single time payments. Server Rentals for private servers is probably the best way to go. By far.

also if they ever get community warfare going there's all sorts of ways they can make money

or maybe charge mc to purchase a "replay" of a match you just played, but let you have a free-look/birds eye view in the replay that way it's not just a fraps substitute.

They will get all there money when they put out the Timberwolf as a hero mech. Now I am not saying that they should, just because of the rage it would cause, but if they only released the hero version first for 1 week than released the cbill versions after. $o$

Oops better not give them ideas. :)

Oh and the urbie.
