Logitech G500 -
- mouse is bigger
- mouse has weights to adjust feel
- mouse comes preset with resolution change functionality on buttons
- dpi range is comparable to the naga
- has 10 programmable buttons (though I am trying to figure out which ones those are

- has only 3 buttons under the thumb
- nice but not too "exuberant" styling
Razer Naga Hex
- smaller and lighter than the G500
- 6 buttons under the thumb
- default settings for buttons do not include changing resolution of mouse
- the six thumb buttons are arranged in a hexagon with a center rest ... default to either 1-6 on keyboard or numeric pad .. takes a bit of getting used to
- software requiring a login is necessary to configure the mouse (even in off-line mode)
- neon green lighting .. might be cool ... might not ... depending on your tastes
Both seem pretty decent ... but I returned the Naga for the following reason. In order to customize the mouse buttons you MUST install their Synapse 2.0 software. This software REQUIRES an account on the Razer website. You can't start the software (and thus configure the mouse) initially without an account. After starting it you can select "offline" mode ... however, even then it STILL requires that you enter the login name and password (unless you choose auto-login) in order for the mouse control software to start up. I found this a ridiculous requirement just to use a mouse. Their "excuse" for this design is so that they can store your settings on the cloud so when you take your mouse with you to another computer you can login in recover your personalized settings (I wonder how often folks actually might use that feature to be honest).
In addition to that, some of the clauses in their licensing agreement were a bit too open ended for software that runs all the time on the computer and is also always connected to their servers ... so I decided that I would not support a company with software and policies like that and bought the G500 instead. Looks like it will be ideal for me playing MWO but probably doesn't have enough buttons for a larger scale MMO.
