I just bought a new mouse. It is a Logitech G500 ... but I bought a Razer Naga Hex first and returned it.

Logitech G500 -
- mouse is bigger
- mouse has weights to adjust feel
- mouse comes preset with resolution change functionality on buttons
- dpi range is comparable to the naga
- has 10 programmable buttons (though I am trying to figure out which ones those are :D )
- has only 3 buttons under the thumb
- nice but not too "exuberant" styling

Razer Naga Hex
- smaller and lighter than the G500
- 6 buttons under the thumb
- default settings for buttons do not include changing resolution of mouse
- the six thumb buttons are arranged in a hexagon with a center rest ... default to either 1-6 on keyboard or numeric pad .. takes a bit of getting used to
- software requiring a login is necessary to configure the mouse (even in off-line mode)
- neon green lighting .. might be cool ... might not ... depending on your tastes

Both seem pretty decent ... but I returned the Naga for the following reason. In order to customize the mouse buttons you MUST install their Synapse 2.0 software. This software REQUIRES an account on the Razer website. You can't start the software (and thus configure the mouse) initially without an account. After starting it you can select "offline" mode ... however, even then it STILL requires that you enter the login name and password (unless you choose auto-login) in order for the mouse control software to start up. I found this a ridiculous requirement just to use a mouse. Their "excuse" for this design is so that they can store your settings on the cloud so when you take your mouse with you to another computer you can login in recover your personalized settings (I wonder how often folks actually might use that feature to be honest).

In addition to that, some of the clauses in their licensing agreement were a bit too open ended for software that runs all the time on the computer and is also always connected to their servers ... so I decided that I would not support a company with software and policies like that and bought the G500 instead. Looks like it will be ideal for me playing MWO but probably doesn't have enough buttons for a larger scale MMO.

I have the G500, and I don't know how they can say it has 10 programmable buttons. I'm only able to program 6 in MWO (left, right, scroll, and the 3 under the thumb), even after trying it with a custom profile in Setpoint.

g700 . Very nice.. One of the buttons is a bit off , but there are so many I use it for command map. Ill probably get a replacement as its a known issue.. But, that being said.. Its a very very nice mouse. I used the mx518 exclusively for years.

had a Razer Lachesis for some time but the sensor was wonky at times

have been using a Roccat Kone for a few months now and I really like it

only 2 buttons on the side but u can use one as a sort of shift button to assign secondary functions to the other buttons, which is awesome for MWO weapongroups (3 buttons + shift equivalent - 6 weapons groups)

It also fits my hand better since it is not as tiny as the razer naga (considererd that one when buying the Kone but the 6 side buttons just dont do it for me )

I bought a Naga on release, and it recently broke. No problem, lasted a couple of years. I was damn happy with that mouse, but the internet told me it was "bad build quality". I then bought a Logitech G600. Buttons were spongy, and the firmware and/or drivers were so buggy (mouse moved on it's own if you used the internal memory to store profiles, and Logitech's "solution" was to disable the onboard memory- one of the reasons I bought that mouse). I ended up returning it. I then got a Steelseries Sensei, and when I opened the package, the mouse wheel was broken from first use. It was also too big for my hand (I have very short hands).

I decided that the Naga just fits my hand perfectly, and that I'd like to buy what I know, but I was sick of so many buttons, so I went for the Naga Hex- but the internet told me that the new configurator software was basically always-online DRM for a mouse. By this point I had decided that the internet knew nothing, so I bought it, and it's great. Awesome mouse, Synapse 2.0 works well.

I have been very happy with my Razer Hex. I can put TS3 chat, zoom, night vision, thermal, and 2 additional weapon triggers all at my thumb tip.

Comfort is the #1 thing to look for. All those buttons are worthless if your fingers can't hit them. I bought, tried, and returned 4 mice before i found the one i liked.

I would like to get a mouse that has more buttons for playing MWO. Currently I have a Logitech G500. I have narrowed my choices down to three: Logitech G600, Razer Naga, and Razer Naga Hex. The only problem is, I've never used a Razer mouse before and I heard they are a little on the smaller side. I went to Best Buy to look but they don't have demo units for the gaming hardware. I don't have big hands but I do have long fingers. Any advice?

Don't buy any Razer products. I've went through 2 Razer Naga's. One lasted 18 months and I figured it was a build quality problem. I bought another Razer Naga and it lasted a grand total of less than 30 days and it was dead.

I wasn't able to map the tilt left and right buttons in MWO. I have the latest driver installed, not sure why it's not working...it works fine in Windows..

You sure you mapped a keystroke to it? I mapped 4 and 5 to the left/right action of the mousewheel button. Oh and I think I also mapped that mouse button settings to a profile in the logitech program, took some work to get that working though.

G700 has been really working for me. In my opinion, the Razer products are all overpriced. You can pretty much always find something just as good that is the same price or less. I also have a G710 keyboard which is sexy as hell.

I still got my dual-optical and others somewhere in the basement.

I've used this one since early 2002. After 10 years, I replaced it with a G400, but only, because:
1: The rubber parts are gone after all these years which means some sharp edges are now out in the open which makes the mouse uncomfortable.
2: It somehow started to pick up dust much quicker then before and I have no idea why. Having to dismantle the mouse once a month to keep the wheel going was annoying.
3: I wanted another thumb button.

But after all these years I can say: I never tested a mouse, that fit so perfectly into my hand like the Dual Optical. The G400 is nice...but the Dual Optical was better when it comes to the shape. Still I would recommend trying out the G400 to anyone who wants a nice mouse without 23 buttons and for a reasonable price. I got mine for roughly 25€ I think.

The SteelSeries Sensei seemed nice when I tested it...but it's really expensive, even the "raw" version costs about 60€...and has a lot of stuf that I don't need. Shape is nice though.

Very happy with my G700 as well. Running it on a laptop so the wireless is great, and the detachable charging cable doubles as a phone charger (my cell just happens to have the same style USB connector). Great for assigning functions, comes with macro software if you use / want that sort of thing, and the mutiple profiles can come in handy as well.

I have the same big hands problem with my mice, and the Naga is a bit smaller than I would use. Right now, I have a logitech G7 wireless. I believe there are multi-button models that are similarly sized.
