If they released a new Medium Laser, that did the same damage, with the same ROF and size, but generating 1 less heat - but for MC, would you say this? How is this different?

The problem isn't the mechanics of the consumables, it's how the MC versions give a direct, obvious advantage.

On top of that, the suggestion to "try it and see" really doesn't apply when there is a bloody pay gate in front of "it" to start with.

Think I'm just gonna keep zipped up until I get home from work after the patch is dropped. Play the game. Formulate thoughts. The things sane people commonly do.

This patch (as in, the one that goes online today) doesn't have them. The next one does. ;)

It's not convenience.

MC Consumables take 1 less module slot for the same effect. You only get 3-4 module slots (when mastered).

That's a lot of "extra" slots the MC Consumable player is going to have available. I buy mine with c-bills. I have T3 level Coolant, Airstrike, and Artillery, and say an advanced sensor module as well (to help push through your ecm). You have T3 Coolant and Artillery, and that's filled all 4 of your slots.

I've got a T3 Airstrike and another module that you just can't have, simply because I paid $.

How is this convenience?

Where did they say you could mix airstrike with coolant flush on the same mech? They haven't said anything yet about putting different consumables on the same mech.

But the free one has the advantage, you can cool twice versus the single use MC one.

Other than that we have no details on anything, including C-Bill and MC cost.

The funniest part about the crying is it comes from this type of person, EVERY time!
"I never played a "blank" or loaded up a "blank" and never will because I HEAR they are OP and I think they should be nerfed."

The sky is not falling, nothing that can be done cant be undone. Test and try before you puke your brains out over nothing.

If anything is going to drive people away from this game its the endless "the sky is falling" post that take up 99% of the posts on page one.

That was kind of my point. Mechwarrior 4 was near the beginning of the slow progression to...Mechassault.

I'm going to save this so in a few weeks I can throw it in your face when you come back crying that a 6ERPPC Stalker chain fired 12 times into your chest.

I agree with this 1000% and other builds that overheat will become very unbalanced. Now we have seen the forum users rage at what they think will become a unbalanced module and PGI will no doubt change it after a few months. The underlying problem is the game itself I think most 98% of all players come on the forums to post and read topics I have seen a game with enormous potential being thrown away by the Devs so far in the wanting of money fast this usually results in a failed project. EVE,WOW and a few other games are ones the fans and players can make a difference because they learned how to shut down the cash flow. This last year WOW lost 2.5 million players why? because they dumed down the game to a point its insanely easy even a monkey could play wow now and not die. PGI might succeed with MWO but it takes time to learn and listen to your player bases wants and needs to keep the money flowing with minimal complaints and I just don't think they have learned much over this year except to keep working on a game model that was a fail for this IP to begin with.

only, the cooling once is as potent as the cooling twice put together. but only requires 1 module slot, not 2. forget other consumables then, this lets mc players effectively have 1 more module slot on every single mech they own compared to cbill players

That could only fire once per game? Go nuts, I'd say, laughing that someone would spend money on that.

Like I'd ever want to use coolant when I need less than 35% cooling. That's just silly. I'd either wait .5 seconds or shoot another alpha and then dump coolant.

Derp. Anyone suggesting two separate tiny cools is better than one still only moderate cool is an advantage is being obtuse in order to make them sound close in power.

Most of the ForumWarriors, haven't read the Command Chair post. They read the raging on the forums and go with that.

Paul Inouye said:

Eeesh. Saw some numbers people were throwing around and this needs clarification now....

CB Coolant Flush Tier 1 = 15% cooling of TOTAL heat on your Mech.
CB Coolant Flush Tier 2 = 20% cooling of TOTAL heat on your Mech.
TOTAL cooling of your Mech is 35%.

MC Coolant Flush = 35% cooling of TOTAL heat on your Mech.

Look at it this way, you get the SAME TOTAL heat dissipation on BOTH purchase methods. The C-bill one gives you the opportunity to dump twice in 1 match at the cost of a module slot.

So technically speaking the C-Bill version has advantage of being used twice in a match over the MC one that can only be used once.

Laser boats still will overheat if not run properly, this just gives players an "Oh S***!" button as someone else said.

But alas, like anyone listens to reason on this forum anyway?

So before coming on here to insult your fellow Mechwarrior. Please remember, you are just Elite Founder trash and your opinion doesn't matter unless you're a gold.

Seriously? Ya had a rational point and go and spoil it with the goldie comment... ;)

It's only insulting if it hits close to the mark. Otherwise it's a rational observation in regards to the over-the-top reaction far too many members are actively participating in.

Strawman much? Just to placate your analogy... The difference is the laser is a constant, as in it would provide advantage over the entirety of the match. Coolant flush is a one-shot "blow your load" deal and honestly as proposed would only be viable as a last ditch effort.

I think too many folks have the MW4 implementation mechanic stuck in their heads and can't see past it.

Coolant flush is a terrible idea as has been repeatedly pointed out. The real problem though is that the gold module is much better than the free cbill versions. This issue will be compounded as more premium modules come out, and people not paying money for the modules won't be able to compete as the cbill modules need more slots to do the equivalent of the premium module.

That's called pareidolia btw. (Seeing faces in things like cheese sandwiches)
