Okay well I don't know anything about BT lore or Tabletop stuff, and everyone's busy discussing the unfairness of coolant flush and maybe artillery, but just wondering... looking back on the high output of gamers during the Be a Hero challenge and how it was mainly for rank or whatever banner stuff, Mechwarrior's got a competitive side to it... something like Run Hot or Die or so, right?
So, will Coolant Flush (whatever type) be allowed in PGI-hosted tournaments? (Or maybe just cbill ones..). Along with artillery? I get that it'd be fine to have those consumables in regular games, but tournaments seem to be different when it comes to how consumables might affect the fairness..
A lot of people on the forums say coolant doesn't adhere to lore or something (maybe i'm wrong) but mainly they just don't want it because it'll be unfair for the MC whatevers. I like the idea of coolant, but asides from all the possible unfairness in pricing and percent heat reduction, would a tournament be a legitimate reason to restrict players from equipping consumables like flush and maybe artillery/air strikes? The core of the game seems to be mainly how you handle and utilize what you have based on the restrictions of your weaponry (heat, ammo, etc)... not how far you can push your mech with consumable assistance or how you time an air strike etc...
And yes I do realize that having the consumables take up module slots and cost cbills/mc and having cooldown periods (at least for airstrike) are ways to balance out their assistance, but I still don't think consumables like these should be allowed in the more official, competitive side of this game...
Considering Tourneys..

Coolant flush is not canon, coolant pods are.
If PGI/IGP think their game is well balanced then they will have no reason to restrict coolant pods in a tournament. I would imagine that any consumable that would give a perceived advantage would sell better during an official event (another reason not to restrict them).
