Start the game. Type something. Try to remove text by holding down backspace. Note that backspace do not repeat.

Workaround: alt+f4.

How is this not fixed nor acknowledged since it popped up three or so patches ago?

I feel your pain!!! This especially hurts when you try to type in your password, know you messed up then have to hit the backspace key over and over again.... I have started a thread on this issue as you said for the past 3 patches....and it still is there....BAD PGI.....BAD!!! I mean how bad is it that they backspace key works correctly on your home site for posts and forums but doesn't work correctly in your game?!? :D

For a workaround, you can hit ctrl+a, then hit delete

Or hold down SHIFT+HOME then hit delete.

What they did is someone went and disabled keystroke repetition for the entire client.. See it's not just limited to the backspace key in chat..

remember U used to get out of a match and be stuck waiting.. youd click launch, but instead you'd get a popup saying mech not available or something.. So rather than waiting youd just hold down the enter key and it would close the box and click launch for ya.. agian u'd get the popup but since ur still holding down the enter key it keeps spamming thru the cycle until the mech would come back to life and lauch into a match...

It was the lazy way of waiting for your mech to ready up and launch.. Methinks they saw this spamming on the servers as somewhat taxing.. So rather than fix the problem of mechs not being available right after u finished a match, they just disabled keystroke repitition in the client.

Makes perfect sense, and that solution makes perfect sense for PGI... bunch of ITT tech programmers

I already tried shift+home a few patches ago it's my preferred way of deleting text. It didn't work then but apparently both shift home and ctrl a works now.

Thanks.

I also feel your pain. This is an issue that has been entered and is being worked on

It's a line of code or a compiler flag. It's been known for at least a month. "Being worked on" indeed...

Also, your link is broken but I think the URL was posted above. I know you're not a coder but it says IGP so do enjoy my ire.
