Got a "gauss ammo destroyed" at 30 something shots left and suddenly the gauss rifle wouldnt fire. Either Im getting 30 shots a ton or it exploded or did my mech decide to eject my ammo?

Where do you store it?

It doesn't explode, only the rifle explodes. The ammo can be destroyed by critical damage though.

Gauss Ammo does not explode, the Gauss Rifle itself does.
Gauss Ammo can be crit, and it will say "Gauss Rifle Ammo Destroyed." You will (or should) only lose the shots in that ton of ammo.
If all your ammo is in one location, it might be that it all got critted at once (highly unlikely) or if the body location where the ammo is housed is destroyed, then all of your ammo is destroyed with it.
If the Gauss itself is destroyed, it deals 20 damage to the location it is housed in - which could then score a critical hit on your gauss ammo.
Dunno, just some possibilities.

No, I've had times where my Gauss ammo in my side torsos ends up killing me. It says cause of death is by ammo explosion.
In a YLW with a Gauss in the arm, no case in the right torso, and all the Gauss ammo in the right torso. No XL engine. I die sometimes by being shot in my right torso. I don't think they've completely fixed it yet

Since the Gauss rifle slugs are simply pieces of metal then they cannot explode. The stored energy in the magnetic field the rifle houses however can.
If you are running an XL Engine in your YLW then that's what exploded. The message itself is just wrong

Kinda think all that has less to do with it than in game bugs at this point lol

when the rifle explodes it reports it as an ammo explosion. Only an error in the death screen recap message.

I overheated and shutdown, then powered up and promptly died as a result of a "gauss ammo explosion". If it is the ammo exploding, this is an issue. I also have to wonder if the rifle itself can explode due to overheating. Do other weapons take damage from overheating? What about the gauss rifle would cause an overheating weapon explosion?
