i only have a small sample, but this mornings matches were some of the worst i have be in recent memory. but its too small a sample to blame it on elo, or anything else specific. but something in the game play itself seemed off.

could just be the partial implementation of rewind though.

But the Elo system doesn't stack your team with experts, first it tries to stack your team with similarly skilled players. The matchmaker starts mixing skill levels only after it can't find a perfect match.

Well then... if the matchmaker is incapable of finding players better than me, I should by default, be better. :)

It's pretty horrible when I play in the evenings (GMT+8). People sit around at conquest spawn, if a scout goes to get a distant node everyone follows (even into the Frozen City cave). Teams split up in three directions. It's pretty confusing. Past midnight the teams are -usually- better and don't look like lost lambs.

Lots of new players too, I guess? You normally don't win 2v1 against an Atlas and Stalker when you're in an Awesome.

It seems to be a combo effect. The new rewind + the new LRM cluster (with Artemis) are a real beast for applied damage. Hopefully they are tracking it. The LRM15 and 20 are true beasts once again... :)

I think like others have point out that patch day is just a mess for the matchmaker. A larger number of new and returning players with average/new Elo ratings means the MM is filling up queues with higher rated players instead of making them wait a while.

My experience is only with the Medium class I just started playing it a few days ago with a Treb (I'm an experienced Heavy class player). I was really rocking it the first night, 3-5 kills per match, then it settled down where I only got a kill or 2 against some tough teams. It really felt like my Elo rating had caught up pretty nicely.

Then last night happened, played 18 matches and my experience was pretty similar to others in this thread. Had a couple of close ones, but also an unusual number of stomps (on both sides). Spectated a lot of inexperienced players, teams would split up and die quickly, etc. I think it's just a large influx of players new to the Elo rating messing with the matchmaking process.

Based on my recent experience with the Elo system, I'm pretty confident this will balance out in the next few days.
