I took YNL into the training grounds and walked up to the Atlas. It took 8 rounds from the ac20 to kill it. (CT shots only)
Same with AC5, 32 rounds for a ct kill.
Does this sound about right?
Just wondering, because it seems like I'm not getting full damage from my ACs lately.

Between armor and internal structure, sounds bout right.

Guess I better work on my aim then.

Remember that all armor has been doubled from their normal Battletech values.
Improving your aim never hurts either. :)

Should be right. If I had an Atlas, I'd set its frontal CT armor up to 100. Yet the stock Atlas 7D already has it at 94. Assuming the internals are worth 60 points this still seems right. Rememeber, the last shot most likely didn't need to add its full 20 points of damage in order to kill the atlas. When my calculation is right, 14 points sufficed. :)

It takes 3 "4 x ppc + gauss / 55 damage" shots to core an atlas so yes 160 is about right.

it's also dependant of how much armor the CT has in the front plus the basic internals there.

Also it's important to remember Trainning grounsd mechs comes with base values from custom configs i think.

enemy in training ground have stock armor , you can kill them one by one with a single shot of a lrm 15

took 32 shot a ml to core the stock atlas

32 x 5 = 160

so with stalker
carrying srm 20
and 6 ml
for a total fp of 80
it should take me 2 point blank alpha strike

lets try it...
took 3 because of SRM spreading dommage to shoulder and head

it take 7 shoot of ml to cockpit any medium, heavy, assault and 6 for light
7 x 5 = 35
35 - 18 = 17 internal

13 shoot of ml to kill a stock catapult from behind (center torso)

Well, if you attack the Atlas from behind, they die nice and quick :)

Did it on training grounds, but I know that 4xLRM15s with Artemis being TAGed can one-shot an Atlas if you get it square in the back.

It was equally awesome and disgusting to watch.

I would just like to point out that these training ground mechs do not have the "Double Armor" we see in Assault / Conquest, so they will go down quicker.

That is false, I believe. They have the stock armor values, which means the Atlas is only missing 2 points from its CT armor, front and back.

Each point of armor absorbs 1 damage. Divide the max armor in a location by 2 to get the internal health. Atlas has a max armor of 124 for its CT, so you are looking at 62 internals. Most players run with about 100 armor, the default it 94. So that is 156-162 health for the CT.

In short, it takes a lot of firepower to down an Atlas.

My assaults tend to run high frontal armor - an Atlas would be 104-109 for me on the front CT - because if you're doing your job right, the enemy should only see you head on and if they're hitting you head on you need all the armor there.

There are obviously a lot of misconceptions about armor out there. Ferro just makes your armor lighter per ton and does not "beef" up the armor. Read the description with comprehension as your main focus.

Yup, takes about 3 full salvos from my 60 point alpha strike laser awesome to kill one. If he twists just a bit he lives and I shut down. :)

typical atlas has ~100 armor and 62 internals... so yeah about 160 damage to kill it.

In tabletop it takes 250-300 damage to kill an atlas... and thats with HALF armor.

So I think that illustrates why aiming is so unbalanced.
