I have the four trial mechs, and a few million CBills. I cant buy anything, so cant use the mechlab without MC it seems
Do I need to spend real cash to get past the first four trial mechs?
Can I edit the trial mechs at all?
Thanks

Trial mechs can not be edited at all.
However you do not need mc to purchase mechs. You have 4 mechbays available for you and can fill those with cbill purchased mechs.

You can get any mech and any equipment for free (except the hero mechs) by using CBs gained from playing the game.
If you want to get them faster, then you can buy mechs etc for MC, and you can buy MC for real-world money. So yes, you can buy stuff for £ if you want to.

Click on "OWNED MECHS" and you will be able to access your 4 free mechbays and purchase a mech using C-bills.
TL;DR
No, real cash is not required to buy non-hero mechs.
