I strongly suspect that Splash Damage is also inflating my AC/20s damage output, since I tend to think I fire it more often at beyond normal range then the damage numbers would suggest. But that's harder to show than the Gauss dealing more damage per hit than it can.

I find it funny how bad you are when you start playing a weapon more extensively. I never used ppcs for example and now i creep my way up slowly.

The same way it was proven that missiles are doing more damage than they should because of splash damage, you can prove the other weapons do not.

Except we have a counter example in this very thread - a Gauss Rifle dealing more than 15 damage per hit.

That's most likely just an ammo explosion factored in there. I have a similar example in my stats, 38 hits of an U/AC5 for 286 damage - that's an average of 7.52. I remember the ammo explosion though as I only used the U/AC5 in two games shortly after the stats patch landed.

I see a lot of people in this thread all showing streaks at around 70-80% accuracy (76.52% here). Apart from the fact that I know my streaks hit more often then that the damage doesn't seem to match, at least from what I can figure. The stats seem to indicate that streak hits are averaging 3.29 damage, which is not right either for a single missile or a pair (correct damage is 2.5/missile).

I suspect there may be an issue with how the stats are recording splash damage and in turn messing up the accuracy figures - maybe only the damage that was applied to the component directly hit is being recorded in the stats, and from there the accuracy is being calculated from maximum possible damage per volley vs "actual" damage per volley.

LOL gotta love when their statistical reporting is wrong. Maybe thats playing a part in the silly weapon balance. At least I hope these are because of stat bugs not damage/weapon bugs. *sigh*

Mine match most everyone else, ~85% with ML's and ~55% with SRM6's.

Looks like i am not exactly the LRM type. Despite that low hit rate i have 8:1 kills on that chassis, although i think i finished off 2-3 mechs with med lasers.

I just calculated the average amount of damage my weapons do statistically. Most of the direct fire weapons are around 55 % of their "should be" damage. LRM's do around 25 % damage and my Streaks almost 90 %.

LRM percentage seems low, but let's not forget that the damage for LRM's is almost doubled from TT (acutally more then that if you include the fact that in TT only a fraction of your missiles hit on a hit). So it's actually quite well.

I do think the devs did a really good job so far. It's somewhat difficult to make a game where a short range weapon like an AC/20 has the same to-hit chance as a long range one like an AC/2 or a PPC. Well done !
