I've heard (and agreed with) complaints that Mech Trees are too limited.

In fact they are less tree-like than linear.

To that I would suggest this instead:

Basics remain as they are, no chains.

Expertise offers two paths: Speed or Heat

SPEED ELITE PATH:
Quick Ignition (no change)
Pinpoint (no change)
Speed Tweak (no change)
Improved Anchor Turn (increases turning speed by an additional 10%)
SPEED MASTER PATH:
Sprint (Increases maximum speed by additional 10%)
Pinpoint Turn (Increases turning speed by additional 10%)

HEAT ELITE PATH:
Improved Coolrun (Weapon cooldown rate increases by an additional 5%)
Improved Heat Containment (Max. Heat Threshold increased by additional 10%)
Improved Double Heat-Sinks (Double Heat Sinks increase efficiency from 1.4 to 1.7)
Fast Fire (no change)
HEAT MASTER PATH:
Master Double Heat-Sinks (Double Heat Sinks increase efficiency from 1.7 to 2.0)
Water Cooling (Triples cooling effectiveness of heat sinks in legs while in water)

GENERAL MASTER PATH: (may be taken upon completion of either Speed Elite or Heat Elite)
Module Slot (No Change)
Module Slot [May select module slot twice]
Swap Ballistic for Laser (may mount an Energy weapon on a Ballistic hardpoint)
Swap Ballistic for Missile (May mount a Missile weapon on a Ballistic hardpoint)
Swap Missile for Ballistic (May mount a Ballistic weapon on a Missile hardpoint)
Swap Missile for Laser (May mount an Energy weapon on a Missile hardpoint)
(***note: I specifically left out mounting ballistic or missile weapons on energy hardpoints because both ballistic and missile weapons require ammunition feeds whereas energy weapons do not. Altering a missile feed to suit ballistic ammo is relatively easy. I would imagine an AC20 shell would be as large as a missile)

Once you select an Elite path (either Speed or Heat), you cannot select efficiencies from the other path until all efficiencies in the first path is completed. Same goes for Master paths.

You CAN select an Elite path without completing Basics in other variants, but you ONLY gain double Basic efficiency bonus upon completing Basics in three variants.

I would like an efficiency that reduces auto cannon jams by a certain percentage, like 15% or so. It would be in the elite tree.
