Ever have one of those nights...

I had one, and I played too long and it's gotten worse and worse and worse. Sometimes the gaming gods dont like you and sometimes they just outright hate you.

I had a 240+ ton weight mismatch ( 7 Assaults + 1 Heavy vs 2 Assaults 1 heavy 1 med and 4 lights ).
I've had 3 or 4 8v7 matches, always against me. Twice against admitted premades ( I still insist matchmaker dealing with premades poorly results in a lot of these 8v7 games ).
I got team killed by someone for suggesting going water without ECM is stupid ( it's stupid ). First person I've ever reported by the way.
I've seen about 50% of my matches end with 4 or more teammates doing less than 100 damage. I had one where 3 mechs, two of which were assaults, did ZERO damage. I am terrified to ever use Flame, as every time I take this mech, I end up with horrid teammates thanks to elo ( it's now 3 wins, 10 losses since stats where added, even though I tend to top the leaderboard... every other mech is > .500 )
I've had two disconnects... I almost never have disconnects...

and finally,

I just got out of a match where I did 243 points of damage total before dying. To the same mech... a Commando 2D. It didn't die...

At that point I just said screw it, this game hates me tonight.

Anyone else have these nights... where it just seems like the game is out to make your life hell?

Only saving grace, I finished eliting my Trebuchet... with much much much pain.

Sounds like you need to make at least one friend, because even two people playing coordinated mech builds and strategies will make a huge difference on a team.

How many times have you NOT PUG'd?

While I try to play my best, it just doesn't happen some times. While I enjoy playing, I'm still saving up c-bills for more stuff so trudge on even if it's a long string of losses~ :)

Losing streaks are the path to ELO Hell... all the better for me but will ruin people's experiences.

I suggest that people, if they are unhappy with losing, find at least one other person to drop with and join on voice communication software.

There are plenty of free Team Speak servers specifically dedicated to MWO. There is even a sticky thread for it...

In conclusion, if some one is losing consistently it is because they refuse to stop PUG'n. Yes, in a team game, you need teammates to help you through it which forces you in to a social situation... aww you'll be OK.

While it is true that dropping in a premade has serious advantages in the pug ghetto sometimes the MM still does weird things to both teams skill wise.

I played a few dozen premade matches before Elo and it was far too easy. Got bored really fast.

My time table doesn't fit well towards grouping, so even though Elo has taken away a lot of the cheese of premade groups, I'm all not all suited for it.

River City night 5 times in a row.

That was worse for me than the stupid losing streak that came. I don't even hate the map.. but it comes up WAY too often in drop rotation. It's making me work on hating it now just because I'm now bored as hell with it.

It seems like the game has devolved into Feast or Famine, because there are days when I'll lose maybe one out of 30 matches. And then I get games sets like last night where it's a struggle just to tread water. Ironically enough, I think it was more consistent in terms of actually Good games (where lots on both teams died) before ELO came out.

Please explain how your time table doesn't fit well with grouping when you could easily find a group within 5 minutes at any time of the day 24/7?

I do not buy this excuse.

I have logged on at 2AM EST and found a group on the COMSTAR Team Speak server (free,) within five minutes... there are very many players on there. IMO try again...

If you aren't putting forth the effort yourself to try and correct your situation, then crying about it is really going to help, huh?

You win in your pre-mades, and then come and cry because of losing without them... derp. Figure it out.

My God it seems to come up again and again, used to drive me mad but the map stats tell me it is my luckiest map, 100% wins, all other maps other than Forest Snow I am losing most of the time.

Nothing is going to prevent some lop-sided matches, nothing.

Dropping in a pre-made provides the current best chance to win and raise your ELO level so that when you do PUG, ideally, you will be matched with other more skilled players on your team.

You do have to separate yourself from the game every so often or its frustrations will cause you to outright quit.

Right now, I'm giving myself a month away from the game after the Host State Rewind patch did absolutely nothing for the outstanding netcode issues that have plagued the game since its public release.

It's disheartening; cause you want to play, but it's just an exercise in aggravation because you know these exact same problems are going to happen time and time again.

I a couple weeks, Bioshock should release, and that'll help get my mind off MWO.

My lost nights are awesome!!My kill ratio jumped from 1.68 to 1.77 and I have often good teams..I try always to give some advises before we engage and as I see it works!!Especially when I inform my team that I record those matches and upload them to youtube :)!

I still struggle to understand how people do less than 100 damage in a match, it baffles me.

Happens to me a few times, generally boiled down to a single mistake that snowballed out of control or just really back luck.
A few memorable 0 damage death.
1. Volcano with cat - Round start, head to volcano, peak over ridge to try to find target. Up came a hunchback-4p (I recognize the shoulder). Next thing I know, bright spot on cockpit for half a second and BOOM, headshot kill. Death result? Yellow to torso armor, head destroyed, no damage to rest of mech. Looked like he was boating a ton of large lasers.
2. Alpine with Hunchback, scout report enemies on the other side of that mountain in the middle. Try to run across open plain to try to get to that scout to help, promptly get destroyed by, what I guessed, 3 mechs filled with LRMs (didn't even have time to find cover). Apparently, when the scout said "Enemies at E6", he meant "One enemy scout at E6".

On days when I get multiple matches in a row of being one of the first killed but ending the match with the most damage and only kill of the game I need to stop. Barring a lucky headshot there is no excuse for barely clearing 100 dam.

And that's exactly the problem. If you solo drop within the high ELO bracket you get matched up with people who ask how to shoot, how to strafe and who do 50 damage in an DDC.

Heck yeah, brother. I feel your pain.

If I am pugging and things go real poorly about 3 or 4 times I just stop playing and wait for an hour or so or even a day or so for a new group of people to be on line in the mix and thentry again.

Seems to work better than beating my head against my desk.

It's not an excuse, as I feel no need to be excused.

I am not you, I do not have your priorities or commitments in life, nor do you have mine. You can group, you can give dedicated time to a game, thats nice for you. I cant.

Thats why I like MWO... it's played in 15 minutes intervals, I can make that work. Many nights I can play for hours uninterrupted and that's sweet. Other nights, I have to drop everything a dozen times at a moments notice.

First game back after making this post...

I load my cursed Flame...

Posted Image

Alpine loads...

10 seconds in... Disconnect.

Atlas-K

Lovely.

30 seconds later... Disconnect

Catapult-C4

Great... two down and havent faced the enemy yet.

Damn near cap before an ECM Atlas appears out of nowhere. Crap... so close.

End of match... theres another mech sitting at base AFK...

An Atlas D-DC.

So, down two Atlases and a Catapult first game back. It appears my **** luck has carried over.

EDIT:

Ah @$@#$, it's the stupid Top Gun tournament... people are DC'ing because of the tournament, because Alpine takes too long.

Great, just like the last tournament, it looks like this weekend is going to be bull**** for those of us that aren't in it.

PGI, start punishing players for this stuff.

It's been since tuesday that i am more and more fed up with the matchmaking. The random matchmaking was way better.

I have that kind of day pretty much every day that I play. And no, going "water" without ECM isn't stupid - going "water", period, is stupid and near suicidal. Keep on playing, though. Sooner or later, you'll start to believe that it'll get better.

WTF happened to Elo... it used to match pretty evenly, I almost never saw complete dead weight on a team.

Since the last patch, it's worse than before Elo was put in, pug stomping and all!

Well, you've gotta remember that this weekend has the Top Gun contest so people will be grouping heavier then they should be to stomp and stat pad. But yeah, some of the ELO match making has been really bad.
