Are these matches truely balanced by skill? Or were the matches more balanced before this 'Match Balancer' came out? Personal opinion the game was more balanced before, even though it was not skill it was tonnage, and that alone did very well in balancing out the matches. There needs to be more in depth adjustments to making the matches more balanced than what we, the players are having to fight against the onslaughts of destruction, have to attempt to deal with. When we are paired with disconnects, and those who are 'lone riders' there should be more of a pool if there is to be balance. example match skill of low levels against low levels say match skill 50 against match skill 50 and the same on each side not one with match skill 100 and everyone else being 1's on that team but more equal on the fighting ground.

It wasn't balanced by tonnage before Elo.

Not exactly by tonnage, but close enough. It was balanced by weight class (ie, each team had the same number of lights, the same number of mediums, etc).

However, while current matchmaking is far from perfect, I think it's far more balanced now than it was before. I used to win most of the games I played, and most of the wins were walks in the park. Now, almost every game is a real struggle, my win-loss ratio is in the neighborhood of 50%, and I'm seeing far fewer games with 8-0 outcomes.

IMO, the matchmaking issues have less to do with imbalance of skill or even weight class and more to do with imbalance of equipment. When one team has all the ECM, LRM's, and/or PPC's, things tend to get lopsided.

The MM in this game has taken a serious turn for the worse since its early days. Currently drop weight is NOT the primary concern but skill level is. So when i run my fully mastered Raven 3L in all of its awesomeness I'm the same in my leveling commando?? Better yet is to drop in a match where the entire opposing team is all ECM or conflicting tonnage. I've also played a match on Alpine where the opposing team was all ECM and all lights against a hodpodge of hvy and assault non-ECM mechs. These games have been SO unbalanced that the game is unplayable. Why level in any of my mechs when I'm going against mechs based on my skill lvl at my 3L. How is drop weight not an issue and ECM is not an issue but my skill level is?? This doesnt make any sense. If anything it should be based on my skill lvl at the mech i'm in and not my overall skill lvl. Adjust the MM bc it is SERIOUSLY F'd. Track stats by mech skill lvl or start matching better by tonnage and ECM. I mean really going against 5 or more ECM when you have none is BS.

THIS. Most games feel very well matched. The problem is bad balance of some weapons and tools.
