Im putting together my third cataphract to go for elite and I like the look of the 2X, ive already had the 4X as a cannon spammers, a 3D as the alpha blaster (love it) and now I want something else.

My instinct is to stick 2 SRM6's in the left arm, and most other builds ive seen also do this but how well does it deal with the fact that you only have 4 missile tubes?

I cant decide how to go, I keep playing with builds like:

or

Anyone with experience of the chassis got any tips?

ok well i'll give you my input having used the 2x quite a lot. I always use the default variant first to see how it fairs and actually its pretty good. I didn't change much in mine, upgraded structure, double heatsinks, added two extra and I changed SRM4 to 2 x SRM6 as you have suggested. What it does then is fire missiles in three 4 missile salvos so you have to allow for that when firing them.

what I notice about this mech is its a fast CTF and it feels like what a hunchback should be like with the added armour. In default setup I can keep the dps up rotating through the various weapons and modifying the rotation as heat builds.
I like your first suggestion best as it has the 2 x SRM6. I don't know how that performs heat related as even my mech's with 2 large lasers give heat problems.

If that was my mech I would have:
group 1 Large laser x 1
group 2 large laser x 2
group 3 SRM6 x 2

Cheers, ill keep playing, my idea with the 2 SRM2's is that you dont have to worry about leading continuously and srm2's have a higher rate of fire than srm4's. More of a precision weapon than the 6's.

just switched to this right now, but i cant figure out what to do with that 4th ton of UAC ammo, i dont need it right now, but dont know what else to do with it.
could drop another half ton from the legs and add ams, but still leaves ammo in my CT

Im edging towards the all energy in the loadout for simplicity which is what has always benefited me best loadouts.

I like the idea of lots of large lasers plus the SRM's so Ill be able to strip off components pretty quickly.

Both the 1X and the 2X have always seemed a bit too mixed up for my liking but Im determined to find a build for the 2X I like.
