It is Reign of Thunder. I really don't understand the excitement over another MechAssault or MechAssault-like game...

EDIT: Reign of Thunder, not Reign of Steel

The game is called:

Reign of Thunder

It is being made by the same creative director, TJ Wagner, as MW4 and the MechAssault games. TJ was also heavily involved in MW 2 and 3.

As for MWO "inspiring" this and other franchises, I would have to say that I see it the other way around.

Well hopefully it means they are going back to their roots of making a robot fighting game, but hopefully it will be a new title instead of mechassault 3. They need to leave the BT to MWO :).

The idea for a new MW title has been around since at least 2009 when it was originally intended to be a complete reboot of the series (MW3015) which eventually morphed into a F2P MMO (MWO). I'd dare say that you can make a solid bet that this game has played the largest part in revitalizing mech titles.

I'm just glad they aren't making another MechAssault...

And hopefully any future BT inspired console games will not dumb down the gameplay into just another action shooter (especially the cover/regen health kind) just to appeal to the masses.

Best thing an originator can do is learn from its imitators. Don't copy them but be willing to look at their product and evaluate its execution. What did they do right? What didn't work? What could have been done differently.

WoW has done that by taking some ideas from Warhammer Online.

I watched the trailer for "Reign of Thunder" and it looks like Call of Duty on amphetamines that were washed down with red bull.

No thank you.

watched the trailer as well, not sure if youve play'd a CoD game, running out in the open means you get sprayed by every ***** in the game, i could imagine some spec of skill could actualy manage to let you dominate in this(that) game, honestly the only cod i saw was explosions, reminds me more of... well the second unreal tournament, but with all mechs instead of players ( or halo... games that have large amounts of closer range fighting, CoD is just a camp fest/spawn camp, youl never see a game that includes fighting around the map in general like in that video)

Um, yeah buddy, we all know that. Why bother typing what most fellas know already?

Hahahaha....no. While MWO floundered around in production, not knowing what kind of game it would be, others already had their plans in written in stone and have been marching forward.

I am glad that the simulator kids have something to occupy them. I would hate to see any MWO snobs take a stab at a real video game.
