It seems a bit obvious, but I couldn't find this / a similar topic yet o.O
After mastering Cats, Cents and Awesomes (plus owning 4 other mechs) I got bored pugging and tried some just for fun builds. Of course, they aren't meant to be competitive but designed for max fun in pugs (no weapons - no fun).

Please share your just-for-fun builds!

#1.1 COM-2D "Long-Trollmando"
You know the Trollmando build: 1 ML or TAG plus 3 streaks. Just replace the streaks with 2 LRM5. It can be ridiculously effective on Forest Colony when there are no lights. Just run around in the water and let rain the LRMs on Stalkers. Everybody will ignore you.

#1.2 COM-2D "ERPPC Trollmando of doom"
I've heard about the PPC ECM spider of doom, this one's quite the same. Replace all weapons of the Trollmando build with one ERPPC. Use DHS. Raise the armor on the left arm (where the PPC is). You can provide an ECM bubble for your mates and 10 alpha which you can fire almost continuously. Or you snipe - hit and run at its best. You can also stalk less good pilots, running around them. I managed to keep three mechs at their base off the main battle with this build (topped the list of this assault pug with > 500 dmg xD). At first, i found it hard to aim at 130 kph.
If you're good at sniping, this is also the king of the Alpine map (it's fast, small, ecm bubbled and a sniper).

#2.1 HBK-4P "LMFAO-4P"
7 TAGs and 2 surprises (ERPPC/PPC, best to mix them). You can emulate 7 SL or SPL ;) When people see your loadout, it's like WTF or LMFAO, but I managed to get some hundred dmg with the PPCs. Note your greatest continuous DPS is with 2 PPCs anyway (unless you have more than ca. 13 extra DHS).

#2.2 HBK-4P "TAG is too expensive"
9 SPL. Seriously, try it. See yourself. SPLs are broken. You have to get up close to do any damage at all, and you can alpha 2-3 times only before overheating. Not that much fun, though. Using 7 SL and 2 ML is much more fun, but almost competitive. The name comes from the observation that you can do more DMG with the TAG build o.O

#2.3 HBK-4P "Flame on!"
9 Flamers, or just like the other builds 7 Flamers + 2 big guns. Errr no. Don't think you can do something useful with the flamers. You can use them to make yourself glow on heatvision. Sad thing, it works worse than the TAG build because of the additional heat m(

#3.1 AWS-8Q "Awesome pulses"
I have mixed feelings about the MPLs, as they're range is even smaller than what I think of as the brawler limit of 270 m (range of MLs, SRMs, SSRMS and AC/20s). And their weight...
I found it quite hard to make use of all the 8Qs energy hardpoints (IMHO PPCs work best but more than 4 of them is too heavy/hot). Then tried 5 MPLs and 2 LPLs. Ridiculous, as you have to get into the brawler range, but quite effective (use a large engine like 300 rated).

#4.1 CTPLT-A1 "NARCAT"
Never tried this as I don't own the A1. But the counterpart of the "LMFAO-4P" is obviously the 4*NARC + 2*LRM20 cat (with 300 rated engine or so). I predict it won't work as well, as (ER)PPC and TAG have about the same range, in contrast to NARC/LRM (and 2*SSRM2 would just be stupid).

You can also add to this list the 6 LL and 6 PPC boats, but I didn't have that much fun with them (I daresay they are NOT competitive).

Large Laserback(s): http://mwomercs.com/...aserback-video/

"The Percolator"

There are only 2 missile tubes so you can make a nonstop stream of 2 LRMs. If they get inside 180m you switch modes and percolate them with MGs,

I heartily endorse the Trollmando of doom. It's the most fun I've had in ages. It even works when you're grinding one of the other variants. It's actually very effective against larger mechs, and you can't cause trouble for ECM Ravens if your aim is good enough. Other lights provide much more trouble, though, so keep up a good relationship with your teammates.

Almost any SDR-5K build, like:
  • 4 MG + 1 MPL (stay with any assault and disarm unarmored enemies)
  • 1 AC/10 or 5 or UAC/5
  • glass gauss canon (2 t ammo => 300 dmg max)
  • LBX/10 just for the "little spider, huge shotgun" effect

CDA-3C Sniper/MG build.

ERPPC, 4xMGs, XL320. Strike away from a distance with the ERPPC for the first half of the battle, move in with your fearsome crit-seekers after armour has been stripped. Useless, but fun.

Worst part is, it's basically an upgraded version of the stock 3C. They meant for this.
