First of all, I'll acknowledge that PGI has tried to improve on the tournament but fell short again.

Problem:

Kills: You are pressed for time and randomness is your enemy depending on your team. The number of matches you can make in the one hour is a factor in your ranking.

Assists: This is won by chain launching lights and shooting one laser at every enemy then powering down in front of them to get killed.

Assists + Kills: Is won as assists as 8 assists is just as good as 8 kills and much quicker if you just chain launch as above.

Solution:

Set a time limit of say 2 hours. And during this time limit your best say 10 games will be used to determine your final score.

This will remove the element of chain dropping from your score. It will also reduce randomness in your score as bad games due to poor team mates will be discarded as you get more than 10 games.

By using match score without damage score you promote good piloting and awareness of what is going on in the matches. Defending base, etc. It also discourages damage farming by stripping every last piece of armor off some one before killing them.

It's not possible to do 10 games in 2 hours under the worse case scenario. So.. someone would get screwed.

My suggestion is the best 10 of 15 games over 4 hours, the best 10 games are kept. 15 games is the max number that can be used in the score filtering..

You know, just hitting someone with a shot does not guarantee an assist, right?

Someone has to kill them.

Well the numbers were merely suggestions taken out of thin air, but the general idea, let a fixed number of games count rather than the number of games you can manage to squeeze into the time period.

Yes of course, but even if just 2 or 3 of them get killed by your team mates, you're already in the next game tagging up another 8 out of which hopefully a few will get killed. You'll get the highest assists/hour rate like this. It's the most effective way to farm the assists and it is not in the spirit of the tournament if you ask me.
