So I've had the Introductory Box Set by Catalyst Game Labs for a while and am planning on trying to get some friends together to play through it (start with the basic introductory rules and work our way up to the more advanced mechanics the box set comes with). In preparation for if/when we start to delve deeper into the game I went to my local game shop in search of other books and picked up the Total Warfare rulebook.

I didn't notice until I got home that the book I purchased was from the Wizkids days, where it was referred to as Classic Battletech instead of just 'Battletech'. My question is... is there any difference between the Wizkids printing of the rules and the Catalyst printing? Like is the Catalyst printing a new edition or is it still all the same?

I just want to be clear so I can tell if I should return it and find the newer copy or just keep the one I have.

As far as I know the only differences between the FanPro/WizKids printing and the Catalyst printing is that the Catalyst edition incorporates more errata and corrections; besides those everything else should be mostly the same.

I think Catalyst brought some changes to the way infantry work, but it was more rules nudges than outright changes.

The title was originally printed by FanPro with the production code of 35101, then re-printed by CGL with the production code 35001. The second printing incorporated all the errata as found in the Total Warfare Errata .

The latest edition should be the third printing (second Catalyst printing). To find the difference, the authors page notes the edition in fine print at the bottom of the right column.
