When you go into a matchI always have a mech I want to be around. I want to know what mech you drive and the mech you hope is your preferred wingman.
When I am in my 3L I like to bring the other lights into the open. I prefer to have an LRM boat nearby. THe lrms will assist me in the kill and then I can assist the LRM boat in the reliable targeting of enemy targets.
How about you?

I like to pick a buddy for the system which compliments my tactical loadout.
Keywords: Buddy system, always.
(My AWS-9M loves your RVN-3L... and you love the fact I have more armor, which is the size of a billboard and will couple shot [you one shot, me one shot.... if that] any of other lights we may run into.)

Seeing as I drive an LRM Stalker around a lot, I like having a D-DC on my flank.
Realistically though, I just want anyone who can kill a light mech next to me: the Stalker's poor mobility, combined with an average of 10-15 fps tends to make lights the bane of my existence when they get within 180m :<

I like having a raven on my shoulder. Though it has become easier to kill Lights, tracking something going 130+Kph isn't getting easier as I grow old.

i like to have the mech (usually an assault) i decide to shadow actually stay with me when i circle around to start attacking the mech currently picking on them instead of retreating or going off to attack a different target leaving the heavy/assault that started attacking able to focus on me. as a serious answer i like a non LRM boat wannabe atlas to stick close to.
in interests of full disclosure i also do sometimes find myself circling my way into a bunch of the enemy while trying to help and dying horribly when i realize it. "ha ha! take that rear armor of the evil awesome daring to attack my atlas buddy. hey pair of srm cats- wait those aren't on my si..." <click here to spectate>
