Nice~! Randomly selected map that is 90% long range . So if people use srms like me i just stay in place and weit behind the corner hole round

Smart choice there

Try running short range weapons on a fast mech, or defending your LRMboats/snipers.
Putting shotguns on your 40kph atlas never really made sense. The only reason it worked was every map being point blank brawling.

GOOD. Unbalanced builds that boat a short range weapon have limited uses and some people will finally have to deal with it.

So does that mean we will see a decline in splatcats?

So... you cannot hit things at long range with your short range weapons.. what do you think is the solution here?

Oh my god you mean map variety has killed your ability to boat the same gimmicky fit all day long? Oh no!

If you put as much effort into fitting your mech to maximize versatility as you put into whining, you'd be doing better.

Did you not read the patch notes? The entire point of that huge map is to allow long range weapons to shine..

OP, you now can't carry just short range weapons. Try mixing it up a bit.

All I heard was "onoz my splatcats dunz work numore".
Well, SRM boat and dual AC20 will still work in the rest of the maps. You could always just ragequit the new map and drop into a new game.

SRM boats do extremely well in maps with lots of cover while snipers are screwed in such maps.

You pick a super specialized build, you're gonna have uneven results until we can pick which map to play in.

Or you can take the risk and suffer every now and then, if you decide to stay with dedicated brawler builds. It's about 1/8 chance to get that currently.

I'm so excited to play the map. I haven't even refit any of my mechs but I know it'll be awesome, not even sarcastic. It will cause people to stop boating all short range builds and maybe throw in some longer range weapons so they can deal with the random dropping!

Good. I am tired of all the splatter cats and splatter stalkers on the urban maps. Build balanced mechs now.

Had no problems dealing good amounts of damage and even to make kills with my short range Trebuchet on Alpine Peaks.

But I believe that it is a good thing, that this map will bring down some Egos (pun intended), that thought their splatcats, short range Stalkers or similar builds were superior to everything else.

Nothing more fun as to dakka a splatcat out in in the open from 800m away on alpine.

Larger maps requiring balanced builds will pull this game back toward it's intended style. Overly specialized builds will start to fall away, and players are going to have to actually develop a solid and diversified skill set. This is a good thing pretty much anyway you slice it... unless you run an srm cat or an AC20 k2(let's be honest, does anyone mind those builds becoming obsolete?)

EDIT:

It would be nice to know what map you will be playing in advance. I will agree on that.

I kinda like the random maps that encourage different builds (hot maps, cold maps, long range, short range, ect) because it puts the emphases on building a versatile mech or coordinating better with teammates.

I think the OP has raised a legitimate concern to be honest.

The thing is, justifying large/small maps being in a rotation where you don't know what map is coming up next by saying that this will force everyone to take "balanced" builds, which mix short/medium/long range, is really forcing people to play in a certain way. People don't like that.
