TL;DR Provide arms locked and unlocked modes that can be switched between in-game with a single button click, analogous to the chain fire mode key, rather than the shift modifier key proposed here.

I can imagine this new feature being useful in some scenarios or on some chassis, whereas in other scenarios or perhaps different chassis you would want to use the current, unlocked aiming.

On reflection I was wondering whether it be more useful to have a true toggle button, with a good example of what a true toggle button being the current chain fire button that switches between two modes with a single click.

If I set up a ranged build on a certain chassis I might choose to turn arm lock on by default. If I get into a brawl however I might want to aim my arm weapons quickly so would choose to use unlocked. However under the proposed operation I'd have to hold down the shift modifier key. It would be more useful to have, either instead of or in addition to that modifier key, a toggle key that takes me into unlocked mode with a single click. After I've finished by brawl, I'd then move back to locked mode with a single click. I personally would find this more useful than the proposed shift modifier key.

Again, this is like moving in and out of chain fire mode with a single click.

RE toggle versus modifier this may just be terminology, however the proposed shift button is acting as a modifier which you have to hold down, rather than a toggle, which switches between two modes with a single click. Caps lock on your keyboard is a toggle, the Alt button is a modifier.

The terminology is not important though, the important thing is that I think a true toggle in-game might be more useful than a modifier, or at least provide that as well as the modifier.
