I didn't notice it was gone... that's how useless and annoying it was, it's better this way as what's the point of a light mech scouting when to get id's and load-outs you must target the enemy which instantly let them know you were in LoS. This results in them using heat vision to find you then slam you with long range weapons.

It was a poor choice originally, and I still stand by it's removal.

Id say make it an ability for BAP to detect if you targeted.

Yup, BAP should be able to give you all this extra sensor/information stuff. Like telling you when ECM is within 180m (no Jamming Indicator for non-BAP equipped mechs) and telling you when you are targeted.

If they give this ability to the BAP, I'm taking that thing off my mechs.

You can't expect a small piece of equipment to have too many functions, that would have a detrimental effect on information warfare, and take a lot of choice out of fitting a mech. Let's be realistic here. :D

I want it back. Yea it was annoying but it was useful. I kinda like knowing when someone had me in their sights, before they've shot at me.

Nay,

it killed the "role warfare" PGI wanted for this project. Whats the point of scouting targets when they know your looking at him??

It got old fast. I'd rather have a visual indication, like the word "Targeted" on one of the smaller cockpit screens. Small, simple, and a hell of a lot less annoying than bitchin betty yakking on in my ear all game.

I didn't notice it was gone, but I'm glad it is. It was not a very good idea to let the enemy know you were targetting them. Especially if you have to automatically target the first enemy mech you see and you have no choice in the matter. It took any element of surprise out of the game which was a horrible idea. Not to mention it made scouting a bit ineffective because an enemy would get a notification going "Hey, you're being spotted. I have no idea from where, but I just thought you should know. Don't ask me how I found out."

I know this doesn't mean much to many people, but it was most questionable canon wise. Glad it's gone. And i happen to like Bettys voice.

Yeah, make it a module, one that only works if BAP is installed or something. It needs a major drawback.

And that's why it shouldn't be in.

As an option that you can turn on or off sure. It gets tiresome IMO however.

I liked it. It made me have to play smarter as a scout. I had to learn to not always target a mech as I was moving from point to point and to only do so when I was sure I needed my guys to see the target or whatever.

It added a new level to play (which seems frowned upon on the forums) and I habituated to Betty pretty quickly.

:\

Just an FYI, GECM counters BAP. So while BAP would give a warning that your being targeted, a GECM equipped mech in Disrupt mode would not give a BAP equipped mech the warning. But, if that GECM mech gets within 180m, it should display "Jamming Indicated".

Non-BAP equipped mechs do not get a notification of being jammed (except missing shared targets and minor flickering HUD) and notification being targeted.

I also suggest BAP users are given another level of information on mech layouts. This last information gives out location of equipment on the target (Large Laser - CT / GECM - RT / LRM-15 - LA / ect).

They already tried this. They had a design which on paper might be good. Then added it in game and gave it to the community to test. It wasn't very good, so they got rid of it.

Give that to BAP as a toggled ability.

It was INCREDIBLY useful. Anyone who says otherwise obviously does not comprehend the value of knowing when a mech is targeting you. It's ridiculous that they took it out, but such is the way with any mmo game where the loudest and most vocal "players" get there wishes heard. Regardless if they even comprehend what they're even complaining about or not.

Yes, but with a different announcement. Perhaps a "ping" noise, like what we get when we pick something up on radar.

personally I liked it, but I understand brawlers who find it annoying. Why dont we have an option to enable or disable it in the options menu. with the default being disabled. you already coded it, why let it go to waste?
