K/D was about .40 at the beginning.
Months later, I have finally done it:
I know, K/D is not a very important feature, but take a minute and celebrate this historic milestone with me. Alas, something different from all the rant going on ^^
Why did it take so long?
Fread Error, frequent crashes
Latency Issues
Stupid Ideas like overestimating me and my mech
Not sticking with my team
I chased the Jenner a lot in the beginning. With my Awesome Trial Mech. Followed him in the crater, you know...
Never used a scout mech and/or abused lagshield/ECM (well ok, its been on my Atlas ^^)
Why did I improve?
Better aim
Better Mechs
Staying with the team
Better Mechs
Not chasing the Jenner (or later the Raven...)
Better Mechs
Mechs played, bought them in the following order:
HBK 4SP
The 4sp was my first mech and I still use it frequently. Sturdy warhorse, reliable, always good for a kill or two
Cataphract 4X
4xAc5/Ac2: Good fun, good kills. But in the end, I always ran short of ammo or missed too much due to latency.
Later changed to Dualgauss...once I changed to Dual Gauss, my KD Ration just skyrocketed. I dont think playing dual Gauss on a phract is pure cheese, but definitely easier than 4xAc5
Hunchback 4G, 4P
Bought them to max out the 4sp and sold them after. 4G was fun with Gauss, 4P was fun with dual PPC. But yeah, no MC's -> not enough slots.
Atlas DDC
Well ok, I use the cheesy Brawler configuration with 3xSRM6 and the Ac20. BUT I can use it quite well and it's been good fun.
AND: I HAVE NEVER USED A RAVEN 3L. This I can say with pride
Atlas RS
4xPPC. Very good at getting kills. Can get you killed fast, though, especially by light Mechs. I used 4xPPC before it was cool. Hence this is the Hipster Atlas.
Atlas D
Recently bought it to max out the other Atlai. Found a nice supporters niche with 2xLL, 2xML, AC10 and LRM15. Not that many kills, but high damage.
Lots of Trial Mechs:
Best one was the Centurion with LBX. Cat K2 has also proven to be a good alternative.
Rest of them was pretty much crap. And because of what? Because of the ridiculously low heat effiency and ammo...
