Quad AC5s. Every. Time.

Alpha strike on the left mouse for slow targets, cycle fire on the right for fast ones. It's a higher DPS than 2xAC20s for less heat, and with more range. It's even quite forgiving for misses too as the guns only take 1.7 seconds to cycle.
Add in 8T of ammo, an XL255, and near maxed armour and you have an absolute beast that most people will ignore in order to shoot an Assault.

This is the 4X I have been running and have had a lot of fun with it. Although now that I have some cbills stored, I might try some of these other builds listed.

Running this atm. Best I can do with a STD250 engine, but so far I'm impressed with it.

Going to have to try the quad AC-5 model. I have a 250XL engine on hand, so I built it around that:

I run this in my 4x:

Endo, DHS, Ferro
STD 255
2x ML
2x Gauss with 5 tons ammo

Might not be for everyone, I get on well with it tho - just don't take "chance" shots too often otherwise you'll run out of ammo too fast... Also, being a phract, I've found people generally aim at your CT ignoring the literal glass cannons in your arms. If you can aim, it's great for taking off already qeakened components - or if needs be, jamming into someone's face. Don't really recommend the latter bit tho...

I've switched my Ilya to my Gauss build, and now I'm running a close-range brawler on my 4X set up like this:

The heat efficiency is low but I'm using a 2x basic eff Cataphract tree, so I only really notice heat buildups on Caustic. And when I do, I just lay off the LPL for awhile and it sorts itself out in a manageable timeframe.
