So which one is better: a pair of Gauss Rifles, a pair of PPC's, or a pair of Autocannons.

Let's assume each weapon is at its max damage and on an assault class mech.

You didn't state which caliber and type the AC's are....all i know is that i wouldn't use a pair of Gauss rifles or a pair of ER PPC's.
Dual Gauss rifles are to heavy and dual ER PPC's runs to hot.
An ER PPC and either an AC/2 or Gauss rifle is a completly different matter however.

I love me some gauss rifles. Although fitting 2 in anything less then 8o tons is a *****. Even if i only get 1 gauss i will take it and cherish it forever.

what a stupid question

ok I know captain obvious and **** but anyway....

close range = autocannon best

long range = gauss best

longevity = PPC best

autocannons rape at close range but then gauss guy will pwn you from far away but then this guy will run out of ammunition
and get killed by ppc guy

Two PPCs

Load up on heat sinks and you can fire as much as you want, and honestly? What's better than shooting lightning at somebody? :P

Gimme Autocannons!
If they are shot empty:
let your arm be limbed,
get out of mech,
grab it with Battle Armor
and club the limber!

Close range massacre.

Why would you fire all 4 at once? Due to recycle times of an ERPPC and with enough heat sinks you can keep a somewhat constant barrage of ppc fire on your opponent with 4.

Dual PPCs all the way. My lovely Uziel always rocked dual PPC's with armor and speed jacked way up. It might take me a minute to take you down, but you weren't hittin me for much unless I failed miserably at pilotin.

Question though. How many chassis can actually rock two Gauss Rifles? I think the Fafnir had dual heavy gauss rifles, but I don't remember much else.

4 ERPPC's equals at least 53 tons of weapons payload, to not suffer massive heating issues. That will make for one expensive Atlas grade mech.

I have to admit, it's a tough question. Gauess rifles hit very hard and have a good range, but ammo is a problem, Autocannons are like giant shotguns ,only better and with more range, but again need ammo, while PPC's have a good range and power, but requires a person to be careful due to the heat genrated by those things. I'd have to say PPC becuse then i would have more tons to put into whatever i need to.

Faffy yep, also i prefer it with 4 LBX-Ac20s.
Used in MWLL is the "I Poke" Uziel with 2 light gauss
other than that, why bother, we get the mechlab Huzzah!

What kind of weapons are they?

There's Light Gauss, Normal Gauss, Heavy Gauss

LBX Auto Cannons, Ultra Autocannons, Rotary Autocannons - what size of auto cannon aswell? 2/5/10/20?

Light PPC, PPC, ERPPC, Heavy PPC - do they have cappacitors, are they overcharged?

Quad AC/2s. That'll wreak someone's day really fast.

I have always preferred the energy weapons for longevity and general punch, provided you can manage the heat they put out. But each has it ups and downs, of course.
