The Pros Do Outweigh The Cons!

I would like to show my support to PGI by making this thread dedicated to the good things that make us like this game. It would be nice to see people post things they like about MWO, even if they don't agree with other parts of the game mechanics.
I would actually like to see this thread grow, although I'm sure it's been tried before. But here goes anyway...
So, anyone interested just post something they like about the game. This kind of feedback could be valuable too if anyone were to read it. If you want to post something negative, do it somewhere else. If someone does post something negative, just ignore it!
Here's what I like:
My work has pulled me away from home for over two months, with another three weeks to go. I still actively visit the homepage and forums to keep current, and am looking forward to getting back home and amongst other things, playing this game again! So the devs are doing something right to make me want that!
Thanks for making a great game so far, and I look forward to further updates and refinements! I also purchase MC to enhance my game experience and support the team!

I like ECM. Yeah that's right E-C-M.
I like the teamwork and there's nothing better than two opposing teams who are actually playing the game the way it's meant to be played. Always comes down to a close run, hard fought match and in those scenarios I don't even care if I win or lose.

I love the rush of adrenaline of a good duel and the sense of relief when you've outplayed your enemy.
I love the ability of PUGs occasionally to rise up and work together as a well-oiled machine, despite never having dropped together before and relying entirely on in-game text chat.

-understand there's reason behind rage
-actually play the game
-come see whats up in forum
-even on sundays(that says something, and yes, I'm a pro stalker too)
There are countless online games where only the mods show up in the forums, and solely to close threads, give warnings. Needless to say those aren't the successful games.

Though it's not often, I enjoy the rare occasions of a good hard battle, neck and neck, you're low on ammo, and it slowly turns into a 1 on 1 and who can do what. The team is talking to you "do this" "do that" etc etc makes it pretty exciting to play. And also not as often as it should be, is those magnificent kills you score, or those days where you're just rocking the socks of every body. You see a PPC fly past your face and plow into your teammates back, you stop, take cover, and do a small covert mission and sneak around buildings and find the culprit and unload everything you got into his back and kill him. Just awesome.
And though those times are seldom, they're often enough to keep you playing through each game, hoping that something like that will come again. And, when you least expect it, you're in a completely different situation and awesome ensues.
It's a very fun game, there's not much to it at the moment, but that's the exciting part, there's more that gets added to it every month. It looks great, sounds great, and nothing quite matches sticking yourself in a mech with your armaments and self-build loud-out and giving it your all. And, although we could exercise a little more respect for the company, PGI still listens to us and heeds what we're saying. Their communication with us and transparency is improving each passing month, they have this awesome thing called Ask The Dev's where you can ask any question and expect and answer.
It's just been great. Have been playing since August when, and every passing moment I get I'm sitting here either on the forums or playing the game. It's been a real pleasure, and I'll say it again, it's so exciting that there's even more to come. I'm really hoping for the best that this game turns out not just good, but great, and then even better.
Don't get discouraged, please, PGI. Stick to your guns and keep your chins up; don't let us callus you but do listen to our prayers, because we're a passionate group and everyone here wants this game succeed and be the best it can be. Sometimes that even means it pushes us to say things the wrong way, change our tones, and disrespect each other, but all in the name of Mechwarrior. Kind of silly when you think about it, but everyone is in the same boat, and everyone here loves Mechwarrior. It's our common ground; whiner, fanboy, critical thinker, the silent majority, etc etc we're all here because of one thing brought us here, and that's the game you guys are working very hard on!
Thank you!

The little details I've noticed ...
- the way an Atlas (and other human-shaped mechs) stumble when they fall, or jump down short distances
- the sound of an ammo explosion ... the first time I heard it I broke out in giggles (and that doesn't happen often ... especially not in a virtual combat situation)
- Phranken
- the way a dead mech ragdolls, especially lights, most especially ravens ... very satisfying
- the sound of an AC/10 shell ejecting after it's fired

Mech retools look top-notch. If you'd told people the lineup you were adding and showed them old pictures people would stab their own eyes out thinking about it. These things are bad-burro. If you could get access to Unseen without stupid court issues I would drive a redesigned Warhammer (or Archer), that's how much I trust the mech design guys.
Like Chavette posted earlier, the devs are doing (and are getting better at) playerbase communications and interaction. Most players have seen at least one dev or two in their gaming experience, so they actually do get dirtside with the rest of us. Bonus points for the consumables retool. MUCH better comms with the new detailed format of releasing stuff, and official threading of major topics. That is a very very good plan.
The game looks like it's a big PITA to put together even without the playerbase input, so overall I'm pleased with the effort. Looked like a really rough time getting things wrangled down at the start of the year but you pulled out of a speed wobble and the patches have been consistently improving the game experience. Just keep us in the loop and let us know what you're thinking about things, we like that.

Right.
So OP, keeping in mind that you haven't played the game in over three months, what kind of feedback exactly are you giving? What qualifies you personally to say that the Devs are doing something right?
(Note: not saying they aren't)
But to keep the post on topic, I would like to say I love the Mech designs. Kudos to FD as always, and I'm forever looking forward to what he plans to do with so many BT designs.
Also thank you PGI for the training grounds. I absolutely LOVE it. It's a mech tinkerer's dream.

Bump to top. Keep posting guys! It's very nice to know you are out there!
I'll go again: I appreciate the current balance of LRMs. I think they are just about right with ECM, because when I boat them on my Stalker or Catapult it can be frustrating to be unable to achieve lock during a match, keeping me from spamming them constantly. And then we use teamwork through C-ECM or tag, re-positioning and some strategy, and we can still put some pain down in short order

feeling of the Game over all. Being part in an big loud and hard Battle. Hundreds of Missles swarming across the Sky, Big Robots marching through the Field of View. Lasershots left, Plamashots rigth, seeking for good Position between all this. The Ambient is simply realy cool. Better than every Moive
Tonns of Weaponsystems and Chassies to choose, and to Master, to get your Way through this Hell of Battles.
Perfect Work so far PGI. Thumbs Up.

The FEEL of piloting a huge, lumbering, armour-clad, bristling-with-weapons engine of destruction is just about spot on.
The sounds are great, from the footfalls to the splashing of water when wading through it. Some of the weapon sounds are amazingly good.
First time on Alpine, standing in my ghetto Panther (ERPPC Commando 1B) on a hill-top, sniping away at targets too far away to get a lock on was just glorious.
Discovering the little things - the 'mechs in the crashed dropship on Frozen City, the crawlers on Caustic, the street signs on River City - there's a lot of loving detail out there.
All in all I'd say a game is great whenever I feel sad that I have to hit the "quit" button, and MWO does that to me.
There's a lot of things right, but there's also a number of things wrong - *cough* Machine guns *cough*. I'm sure the wrongs will be turned right in time though.
