Just wondering if we've all just been assuming we are going to be able to play/buy Clan mechs..

It just occurred to me that I really doubt we are...
I hope someone has some kind of tangible proof that at least remotely points to the idea that we will be able to.

Considering the profit potential for PGI/IGP, yes we will.

thyeve never officially said so i think, but it's been assumed so much and never refuted that by this point they effectively said it by omission of denial

It rather seems like it, all considered. Especially since they haven't stated that they're going to be doing "missions" any time soon.

Well, consider that if they didn't give us drivable clan mechs, that would have to mean AI...otherwise, there'd be nothng. And since they've rather explicitly stated that they don't plan to have PvE (at least, I think), and they've very explicitly stated that they aren't doing any sorts of missions (dev 33, which implies PvE in the definition), it's safe to say we're piloting them.

I think we would need to be brain dead to not want to sell Mad Cats to players. We have design and balance issues to figure out but we will get it sorted so players can play as the clans

Proof enough to me

You have my vote...maybe ;)

They have changed their position before...but I do agree, they would be brain dead to not want to do this.

Let's center the game around the clan invasion and then make them an unplayable faction.

...yeah ;)

i stand corrected

though, that sounds like the sort of PGI hedging akin to "no coolant flush" or "no 3rd persion view" or "community warfare fall 2012"

Unless Russ comes down with a crippling allergy to money I think it's a pretty safe bet that clan mechs will be in the store about as soon as PGI is capable of selling them to us (and not having them break the game over their ER Knees).

All they gotta do to make clan mechs "not pwn" is allow clan tech to be equipped on IS mechs. Mix and match was a solid loadout strategy in MW4, even MW3 to some extent. Mostly they just need to get the heat/dmg/range/tonnage right for the clan weapons.
MW4 had a good model for this IMO, EXCEPT for ballistics in that game, the tonnage difference for clan ballistic made it no brainer for that.
Put the clan stuff in the list in mechlab. Then make it cost a lot more cbill. Then, with the coolant flush thing sorted out, be more harsh on heat penalty so people are not hurr durr about using all clan er lasers.

My concern is more at Dire wolf and the ability to make 100 ton mechs do 55k without hurting loadout too much. Dire wolf was a walking deathray, BUT, it walked damn slow. IMO, there is a little to much homogenize going on with mech speeds in MWO.

Lots of theories were put forth regarding invitation-only Clan accounts for certain select players during the early days of the Clan Invasion. Some people have suggested that you might have to have a Clan mechwarrior who is separate from your IS mechwarrior (tracking inventories, XP, etc., independently). I also seem to recall PGI mentioning that the technologies will likely remain distinct (no Clan tech in IS mechs and so on).

They have said several times that the clans will be playable, and they have stated several times that there are no current plans for PvE...
