Firstly,

Ravens vs Atlai stuff

A lance of Lights should defeat a lance of Assaults. That is the way the game is intended to be balanced, (ie Rock, Paper, Scissors.) otherwise everybody would be running Atlai.

Secondly,

The Consumption system is intended to be a money sink. Its not about being good to the game, it about being good to IGPs bottom line. The idea is that:
A, You spend all of your C-Bills on coolant/artillery strikes so you have no money for buying mechs; therefore you buy MC or,
B, You want coolant/artillery strikes but don't have the time/patience to earn them; therefore you buy MC.

I hope PGI enjoys mass uninstalls if consumables get in to the game.

This has been said about numerous decisions by PGI. Yet people are still here, the game is bigger than ever and is still growing in its player base.

How about an "I don't know" option? They're not here yet. :)

Armor and ammo are already in the game. They are consumables as will be Arty and Air Strikes. :)

Gonna have to take a wait-and-see approach to this one. All of these Things are part of the BT universe, so they belong in MW:O.
I just hope the implementation is done well. Of course there will probably need to be a few tweaking passes to get it right.

While I am NOT opposed to the idea of consumables in general, the ones proposed so far are not a good idea. Some of them just aren't all that useful and the others definitely have the potential to be abusive and cause more problems than they solve.

What consumables do you think is a good idea then?

And The Gunman, no, a light lance does not defeat an assault lance. Nor should it. Light is not paper and Assault is not rock. 400 tons vs 120 tons = stomp.

It would be nice if we got some kind of lobby system before trivial things such as consumables. I guess you can't sell match making for MC though.

All I realy care is the addition of Artillery at all. I would rather mount my own Artillery Weapons, though. But, all besides the Thumper Artillery Cannon and Sniper Artillery Cannon requiers critical slot splitting because they are larger then an AC/20.

The way they plan the current implementation I feel will make the game worse.

Spawn in use 3 arty strikes(or more) directed at enemy spawnpoint, one left of spawn, one right of spawn, one in front of spawn....
Some mechs wont even last 7 secs in match...
Great idea.

it will improve,

in the way that PGI gets $$$.

which they need to continue development and what not. *seriously, where did all the founder/hero mechs go? dont see much of them anymore in game.

Consumables are bad in general.
Pay-to-win consumables are worse.

PGI clearly cares more about gouging their playerbase than improving the game. Not that I blame them; their average player not only accepts ridiculous gouging, but practically begs for it.

Great idea.

The 60 second no strikes allowed period at the start of the match says no. Also there is at least a 6 second team wide cool down After a strike has finished before another can be launched. And finally you still need line of site to the area you want to hit any ways so you still can hit the enemy spawn from your spawn.

I think that, while it won't make the game worse as currently imagined (incompatibility of Mc consumables with ground consumables is a fantastic idea and I wish more games would do it), it also won't make the game better. Right now, without a diverse selection of maps/gamemodes and no ability to choose maps, there's not a whole lot of strength in situational builds, which consumables are pretty much meant for. Perhaps later on when there's a bigger meta and more content, but not right now.

TL;DR: we don't need this, we need more maps and the ability to select them before a match.

A heat reduction consumable will be the worst thing to ever happen to this game.

I was on the fence in not caring, but that kind of consumable will be TERRIBLE.

Arty and air strikes are fine as long as someone needs a module to even equip them and if they are restricted in how many you can have equipped.

Have a basic and advanced module.

This coolant flush feature sounds ridiculous.

Perhaps the MASC will feature a "speed buff" piece of equipment you have to slot into the MASC and have to pay MC to use it! Haha!

I'm thinking of all the old FPS games that I played in the past and how terrible they would have been if there was a consumable which immediatly raised your stamina to full after sprinting.

*thumbs down.*
