Back before the ecm days i made a raven that had the speed of a heavy and stuffed with and lrm20. Funny thing is that it worked rather well, i got 3 or 4 kills per match. Now that lrms are somewhat good again (with the upgrade) it might be fun to play with.

Of all of the poorly optimized builds I've seen recently, two stood out as particularly horrendous.

The first was a raven 3L on my team with ECM and an SRM6. And nothing else. I figure he must have been running a standard engine or been severely underweight, but either way.

The other was an enemy catapult. An A1 or C4, I think. Either way, it was a pretty hardcore LRM boat. Anyways, me and the trebuchet buddies I dropped with saw their team lining up to rain missiles and flanked around behind them. Somehow, we managed to get right up behind their missile line without being spotted (without ECM, even!), and I started cycling through targets to find something that had been softened up or would be an easy kill. Sadly, the rest of out team didn't really have the range to hurt anything, so every enemy mech was unharmed.

But this particular catapult, completely unharmed, had no leg armour.

Like, at all.

And after a moment of confused but coordinated leg shots, we learned that he was keeping ammo in his legs.

You know, when I see these sparse loadouts, I get the feeling that some new players (new to Mechwarrior) are under the impression that they don't have to fill up their tonnage, and it's just there as a maximum, same way in some games you don't necessarily fill every slot with equipment. Some may also think that not filling out tonnage will have an effect on handling. To be honest, I don't see any instructions that might disabuse them of this notion.

I'd say the Atlas D-DC who was running LRMs, one medium laser... and two TAGs. Yes, that's right. Two TAGs.

When asked why, he responed "In case I lose one".

But true, there are D-DCs out there who run only LRM and a medium laser too. So guess it's not the worst.

I've run a D-DC Missile boat with tag and an ER PPC and averaged well over 800 damage with it...

Cicada 3M, no ECM, AC/20, no other weapons. He was going no faster than 70km/h, cause I chased him in a stock 4SP and he just barely gained a tiny lead on me, before I killed him.

Found one of those myself... pity I was in my overgrown Raven X5, only got 1 solid shot before being overwhelmed.

A Jenner with a single PPC.
In no way did it utilize it's heatsink capacity, making its DPS pathetic in comparison to even a stock build.
I mean for crying out loud you could at least put an ERPPC on the thing to utilize all of those heat sinks.
Not to mention the pilot was constantly engaging enemies below the minimum range so he was doing even less damage.

He was the last one to die at the end of the match and only dealt about 70 dmg which was either the lowest or second lowest amount done.

i know atlas are rare but i didn't know the componants to complete it's outfit were rare too... poor people. give em a nickle if you see them walk by.

Did I happen to run into you guys in Frozen Colony on the enemy side? I was a Cent Al with four medium laser a srm4 and a srm6 with a white and black paint job.

In late closed beta I ran into an Atlas with a single large laser. And nothing else.

Ravens with LRMs. Saw one the other day with LRM 10 or 15. Saw another one with the same in another match. Also saw a Raven with an LRM 5 in the Narc tube.

I've run a Raven with this kind of loadout before to see if it was any good. The answer is of course no.

I also don't get those light mechs with ER large lasers. When are you ever going to shoot something that far away in a light???? You should be constantly moving at full speed. Actually, I don't get ER large lasers at all. You rarely get a chance to fire that far. All the maps are too small, save Alpine.
