when I first heard about MWO and how this would be different from a shooter or any other arcade/action based game it was making me go: Finally some decent firefights!
During beta the game (with some exceptions) delivered this experience.
Later on, press reviews praised the game for the enduring battles, the tactical thinking behind it.
It was said that MWO was more a game about getting hit, deciding what location to shoot at, trying to maneuver and make use of the battle situation to adapt to the enemy and the environment.
Having said that, I feel the game steers away from this direction and looses it's USP!
Battles became quick. Stock builds get changed to min max builds. Pinpoint focus damage on torso is what is is about. New mechs like stalker and ppc buffing enable insane alpha strikes on one location.
In order to adress several issues (make LPL worthwhile, make PPC worthwhile etc.) equipment got improved and buffed. Maybe they were actually fine and the other equipment need to get nerfed a bit? Just saying out of the blue....
All I can say is that battles became quicker. You kill fast, you die fast. That is my experience.
It would be cool if we do not stray away with MWO from what it initally was meant to be.
