The mech graphic(Yellow, Orange, Red) is quite lacking and somewhat confusing. A percentage would be much more helpful to me.
I target an enemy mech or cursor over a friendly and I see the percentage of damage they have taken, why can't I see my own?

I Can See My Target's % Of Damage, Why Not My Own?

Yes, that wouldnt be bad. Ive often had to ask teammates what percentage I was at so that we could quickly decide who would have to go in first who is able to soak up more damage than the others.
The percentage is however not in any way usefull though, as it is very misleading (you can die at over 70% health left through a clean cockpit shot for example)

I am finding I peek and take one Lrm volley or laser fire and my Cat splats. I beefed up armor in my torso but I still seem to die in the first exchange.
Often left wanting more detailed info on my damage taken instead of the basic death screen.

I have to disagree. There is a difference.
Lets say my Centurion -YLW with an standard engine lost his left arm and his left torso, but the rest of his body is nearly unscratched. So he is at (let me guess) 80% BUT completely funktional and without loss of any important weapons.
Lets now say the CT of my centurion is cored and engine already yellow/red. One of the lasers (or both) is taken out BUT he is als at (guess) 80%.
I hope you see my point. I don´t think the % is so reliable. On the other hand new players might get confused with the color damage indicator. the % is also more common in other games.
Like: WTF why is my CT yellow, then orange, then red... Oh great, it´s back to normal now. Now it´s yellow again... Orange... Red... Huh, i am dead?

% health isn't something I ever look at anymore. Try looking at the target info rather - it gives you much more meaningful information, although it could use a bit more colour and % in there... after all it takes 4 seconds to get that info.
I might be wrong, but I think this % is the total armor + internal structure health left. Somewhat useless if you ask me.

Yep, percentage is rather useless, since you can be with absolutely no armor in your CT and (the rest of the mech untouched) and shown as being 80 or 75%, while you're probably going to blow up pretty soon..

The % is not a measure of how much health a target has before they die, it's a measure of how much total Armor+Internal Structure they have remaining.
Especially in the case of XL Engines, a target can have as much as 90% health remaining, and die because a side torso was blown out.
A % of health remaining for you would be more confusing than the current system. If a player saw that they had 80%+ Health remaining, they might wonder why they died immediately after that.

I am curious the thresholds between yellow and orange and red.
Lets say my arm has 40 armor;Does that mean I can take 2 direct AC20 blasts or 4 large laser blasts? If I am hit by a LRM volley and my arm goes orange, does that mean I can sustain 1 AC20 blast, or 1 laser blast?
If my arm is red but not missing, can I take 1 small laser blast?
That is important because if my opponent has certain weapons firing on me I should know what I can sustain and what will kill me.
Edit: Arm has 40 armor- 01-15 damage is yellow, 16-25 is orange and 26-40 is red?
