So, the devs apparently know that we love hopeless speculation, and gave us a cryptic announcement, revealing something that's going to happen on June 5th. I wanted to try and break down a number of things in Artemis to try and get a clue of what it is, and what it is not. Keep in mind that nothing I say can be 100% solidly true since we can only infer based on the mysterious info we are given, and will require a few leaps in logic. I love riddles as much as everyone else, so...

Cue music!

I'm sure most people realize this already, but looking at the picture above we can see that bits and pieces of the Artemis picture are scrambled, pixelated bits of the already released concept art for several 'Mechs previously announced. We can clearly see the torso of the Dragon and Catapult, the Commando's arm and the Centurion's groin.

What can we infer from this?
Quite simply that the scrambled image is not a scrambled image of a future Mech we may be receiving. It is a quilt of pixelated previous designs.

But at the same time, we can probably assume it has something to do with a new BattleMech. We've seen that background 11 times now. It's not entirely illogical to assume the usage of old concept art will be linked to a new BattleMech design.

Next, onto the actual post.

Based on the command prompt, it seems to be a terminal trying to start up an unknown program that has been redacted, and it's status repeats "pending" several times. The command prompt then executes Artemis, which takes you to the new link- apparently now deciphering an encrypted message of some sort.

So what does it all mean?
There's nothing terribly solid we can pull from the post itself, but here's where we take a leap in logic. The command prompt is attempting to start something up- something that has been censored, and has a currently pending status. What can we think of in the BattleTech universe that has been hidden from the public, and has been pending to be implemented? No- not your beta status, I was thinking the Unseen.

Yeah- I know. We're tired of people hoping for the Unseen- but if it wasn't something large and exciting, why all the secrecy? It's going to be revealed on June 5th, the day of E3 as well- why go through the trouble of making a timer, scrambled image and etc. etc. if it isn't something worth getting excited about? The only Mech announcement I can think of would be the return of the Unseen in order to generate this much hype and mystery.

However, there is a very real chance that the announcement is not related to a new Mech at all. The scrambled art could just be scrambled art of various Mechs, and the announcement will be something much more conducive to the game itself. After all, the game represents the Mechs just as much as the Mechs represent the game. It wouldn't be too far-fetched to think that there not being any more beta keys handed out until after E3 (as stated by Bryan) isn't unrelated to Artemis, which happens to be revealed AT E3. More beta news, perhaps?

But I do believe there is a certain viability in the announcement being our 12th BattleMech, and one that may generate a buzz. Since we have one less Assault then every other class, perhaps it will be a BattleMaster. After all, "Artemis" is the Greek Goddess of the hunt- and that seems rather fitting. But of course, this is all just my interpretation. It could be crazy theorizing based on miniscule facts, and it could be much less than what I'm making it out to be. However, it's something that I believe you should think a bit about- and my tinfoil hat agrees.

Great break down and awesome post, except for the music video :P .

As for my last post, maybe i am looking at the Artemis thing too literally, but I personally think that it might not be a bad idea to look into the fact that the zones that were first noticed (which are in the scrambled pixelated picture and are also from the pictures of already shown 'mechs) all have an LRm rack in close proximity, the title is Artemis which is lost tech, so I just thought maybe it was the key to the whole thing....

Maybe somebody thought, "This will really stump the players, who would really think this scrambled image has anything to actually do with 'Artemis' while expecting a new 'mech here soon and with a lot of them hoping for a beta key?"

Another thing I forgot to mention in my other post here so far is....on what date did the Inner Sphere rediscover Artemis? Since the thing is on a countdown for June 5th....maybe it will be the new news post the devs put out along with the new 'mech "Artemis discovered by __________________" (Fill in the blank with the name of the Faction which rediscovered it)

Oh, and if you think this has nothing to do with Artemis, that is fine, like I said, maybe I'm looking at this a little too literally

I see the Commando's head flipped upside down in the bottom left corner.

EDIT: I also see an arm exactly to the right of the Commando's head, but I don't know what mech it belongs to.

Nope... Like I said in two other threads, that foot is the Cicada's. Here is what I think... While we are all looking and finding bits and pieces of mech we already know of in this mix of art... Has ANYONE turned the pick over, upside down, 90 degrees either direction? How do we not know that a new mech is not HIDDEN in there some where and it may be there but not right-side-up? there is a lot in there that looks like parts from the dropship in all the concept art BUT is it really? All im saying is look at it from different perspectives and or look for something that does not match anything we have seen yet :P

Hmm, yeah as my latest post says, maybe i was looking at it too literally, and I like your idea, could easily be a jigsaw puzzle that fits together in more than one way, even if it is really strange looking when not put together in the way that portrays what it is meant to be...

Unless it is like a wrap up (literally as well :P ) and review of what is already set up for Mechwarrior Online so they can go show off everything they have so far at E3...although I personally say, keep looking guys, might just have something hidden in there.

Okay then... Below the Centurions pelvis and right of the Dragons Auto Cannon.

It looks like the Dragons paint job, and it's a head and shoulder but it's all wrong for the Dragon.

If it is a new Mech, my money is on the BattleMaster.
Reasoning: I remember someone mentioned (in another thread, can't remember which and who) said the next Mech could possibly be an 85 Ton. And IMO only the unseen/reseen deserve this much "secrecy". Hence, the BattleMaster.

Also, if you check the FAQ under the question "Will the Unseen Mechs make it into the game after all?", the answer is "Look forward to a future announcement." This could be that future announcement.

Then again, there is that issue of that funny email code...

out of all that mess... there is one bright white spot in the upper right hand corner that looks to be the side and arm of a mech but looking at all the concept art we have, there is nothing that looks like that or anything in any of the mech concept were white is that bright.

Artemis's weapon was the bow. If its a mech it could be (Unseen) Archer or (Unseen) Longbow.
